I don't think you can develop a method that will be profitable.

Would have already been developed.

If you think the actual race is chaos, look at show payoffs. You never know when a decent show payoff will pop up, and win odds are zero predictor.

I always assumed this was true as well, but running a few look-backs at some actual cards was still fun.

Wasn't there an annoying poster here who insisted he could manipulate the show pools at will and turn a big profit (not bridge jumping)?

Nothing wrong with playing against the favorite in a short fields, but most tracks have discontinued those show pools.
