It makes SunRay look upscale--it's a credit to SunRay they were clever enough to turn a chicken coop into a funky retro toteboard. You can park five feet from SunRay's front door--they see no need for a valet.

Announcer? I rarely listen to the races. I'll listen to Jukich at Hastings, because I have for 25+years. Geller at Woodbine, Peter Berry at Mtr, Vic when he is back....not too many others.
I know I'm going to download the form tomorrow....thanks EMD

I see Jake at many of the western fairs I attend, and agree he is one of the best at that type of racing circuit. I think I first saw him at Desert Park when they had their first race day in about 20 years a few years ago. Not much of a racing colony, so he seemed to stand out. He might have swept the card had he ridden to best mounts in each race.
Still hoping they are able to bring back racing in Kamloops so I can add them to my list, and maybe meet up with you!

So just seeing this! And I love me some PM so want to weigh in
First of all they remodeled a few years ago, twice actually, and while it's not a beauty, it's gotten much better.
Tom Harris is calling the races. He announces at Sam Houston and recently has also been at Zia and Retama as well. Tom used to call the races at Playfair and Yakima Meadows for years. He's a NW guy. Decades of experience.
Jake Samuels and Kassie G. are an item (atleast they have been for quite a while) so guessing that's why they travel together. Both really nice young folks.
Rocco is gonna ride at GGF but will likely be at PM for a little while.
I think Zunino will likely be the top guy. Jonathan Nance is bringing in a couple guys from Arapahoe (Karlo Lopez is one) so they'll obviously be on live mounts a lot.
Pat Jarvis always solid when she comes down from HST.
One year on opening day at PM I was having horrible anxiety all day and left right before the $10k Inaugural Stakes. Real career high LOL

I love Tom Harris! (Like I love your calls sir!) That's perfect for him! Just in time to take 3 weeks off between PM and Sam Houston, 2 of my FAVORITE race tracks!
What happened to the announcer from last year, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm not sure I'm too crazy about the item LOL but it happens a lot in racing.
Bowen, shucks. I never bet GG, sad to hear he might miss some days (presumably Sundays) because of GG but it is what it is.
Miss you calling there. Every time that gate opens I hear:
AND THE RACE IS OOOOONNN !!!!

The one time I visited the Northwest, I stayed at the Studio 6 ("upscale" Motel 6) right near Portland Meadows.
I like North Portland, and I wish to return someday to visit Portland Meadows (or Emerald, if different time of year).

If you're talking about the racing, PM and Yavapai are about the same. I went to Yavapai the year it opened, and I thought it was an okay facility - much nicer than the old Prescott Downs, from what I heard.
PM is okay. It's older but at least it's a racetrack (and not a casino masquerading as a track), and there's plenty of elbow room for the players, as well as a covered paddock. Reminds me a bit of Fairmount Park, only with a slightly better crowd. I go over there on Fridays sometimes to play the puppies, and I'll see what it's like on Sunday for live racing. Won a little dough at Tillamook last month, and some of the same players will be there. Since I can't pick my nose at EmD, I'm hoping the racing is a lot different then that.....

EMD, I am no longer speaking to you.....it is YOUR fault that I now have a printed DRF for Sunday's Portland card....

As someone who attended both Prescott Downs and Yavapai I can verify that Yavapai was a bazillion times better. No comparison. Air conditioning for one was a big step up. I will say the climate for the horses at Prescott Downs was more pleasant because of higher elevation keeping temps more moderate. Prescott had no indoor seating...it was the grandstand and hopefully you were under the roof when a downpour came along.

I hear ya.
Here's my Robert Stewart.......Eliska Kubinova. I can't stand the sight of her.
They are so better off attaching a SCARECROW to a horse VS having her ride.
I was so happy she had a baby. Thought I was finally rid of her and like any horror movie, SHE'S BAAAACCCKKK

I just looked her up on google images...she is fair and attractive...I don't understand why you think she is a scarecrow? You wouldn't say that about a guy jockey would you? Why say that about her? She deserves better EMD, but you are entitled to an opinion... But not just to be mean...am I missing something here?
