The different finish lines at Gulfstream had track announcer, Larry Collmus, confused earlier in the meet. He actually blew a race call or two before adjusting to it.

Yes, that one has been mentioned in this thread. Been there several times and they are always sure to point out the mile finish line when in use.

There's a legend involving Joe Hernandez, the great Santa Anita announcer of the first 40 years of the track, and the downhill turf course, which was inaugurated in 1954.

Sometime after the course was installed, Hernandez called a race down the hill, to the finish line, breathlessly called the finish, and turned off his mike...

and the horses had 1 lap to go.

Laurel uses second finish line for 5.5 and 6 furlong turf races as well as the 1 turn dirt mile

If they did it would be for the quarters. The T-breds have one line.
