On top of that, it's not unusual for the fillies to be a little ahead of the colts in their development at 2. Then the colts slowly catch up. So if the usual gap is 8 Beyer points or so, it's less than that at 2.

I thought Nyquist overcame a very wide post while racing with the flow of the race vs a weak group.
I also think that the BC Juvenile is not always full of our Triple Crown horses. Nyquist is basically at that level and does project forward, and maybe some others will find their stride, but we will see new faces bringing their own impressive performances into the 2016 Triple Crown series.
