Golden Horn vs American Pharoah
I know all eyes are on the Classic and American Pharoah but there is another champion 3yr old who recently won the Arc and in turn beat the 2-time defending champion who in her own right was being considered as a great.
Which of the 2 will finish as best horse of 2015? Which of the 2 is the more vulnerable to an upset? If both wins, who should be WORLD horse of the year?
We finally get an Arc winner to come here and run and he's the undercard to the main event!

Why?
The comparison is pointless.
Apples to oranges.
Just enjoy them

Agree, just enjoy!! I watched a Blood Horse video, filmed in slow motion, of Golden Horn coming off the turf course at Keeneland this morning. In a natural walk his reach, hoof to hoof, is stunning. And this was simply walking, no running, no extending at all. I've watched a lot of turf horses walk, but WOW!!!!

Really like Golden Horn, but Pharoah is a once in a generation horse.

Finally? There have been several that have run in the Breeders' Cup.

True, but he would very likely be an inferior horse on dirt.
Just as AP would have a hard time beating GH on turf (10F plus).

I was being sarcastic.

Aidan O'Brien is the only Euro trainer that
consistently takes a shot at the Classic.
There is usually a US influence in the bloodlines
of his top charges, but sometimes you have to wonder.
His record in the Classic is less than stellar,
but to have horses of that caliber most years is laudable.

That's true, but usually his Classic tries have the feel of "this horse peaked a while back, but we'll try him on the dirt and see if we can add to his breeding value". His horses at the top of their form go in the turf races. Logically.

Yes, there have been several to run in the BC, but no Arc winner has ever come back to win a BC race that same year! Maybe Golden Horn will be the exception, then again, maybe not!

To my recall, Carnegie was the last Arc winner to try the BC Turf in the same year and that was 1994. Sakhee was the only Arc winner since then to run in a BC race in the same year as his Arc win; he almost won the Classic in 2001. Hurricane Run was an Arc winner but he didn't show up over here until the following year.
