DMR RACE 1 (4:00 PT)

MDN CLM 40,000 – 6F DIRT
1 TWISTED EARL 3-1
3 LAST ONE STANDING 9-5
2 GREYSON AND JOHN 10-1
6 TRUE RANGER 4-1

1 TWISTED EARL
Hasn’t had things go his way in either start. He lugged out after steadying at the start of his debut. Attracted Mike Smith for the 2nd start and he blew the turn. Comes back w/ a solid, bullet drill and another class drop. Also, he adds first time Lasix today. Better.

3 LAST ONE STANDING
First time gelding for trainer Miller. He was off slow in the debut when bet to 6-1 vs a lot better. Just a 45k purchase in April, so this move to 40k makes sense. His works were so-so before the debut and has come back with another SLR drill. Talamo stays.

DMR RACE 2 (2:37 PT)

CLM 16,000 – 5.5F DIRT
4 WARREN’S DIXIE BELL 5-2
7 FAB FOUR EVER 3-1
6 MUDGE 4-1
5 ILL TELL YOU WHAT 15-1

4 WARREN’S DIXI BELL
5YO mare comes out of a key race from early June at SA. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers came won back vs 16k here (80 Beyer) and starter allw at LRC (81 Beyer). Makes the right drop for a race at DMR. Like to see Bejarano sticking around.

7 FAB FOUR EVER
Logical player in this weak spot as she was 2nd at this level here last time out. Winner was 2nd in race the top choice comes out of. Gets a new rider for this and has good speed to get a good early position.

DMR RACE 1 (2:05 PT) CLM 32,000 – 1M 1/16 TURF

1 THUNDERING GALE 5-2
7 REDRESSTHEBALANCE 5-1
6 JADE WITH ENVY 4-1
4 CLEVERLY BEVERLY 10-1

1 THUNDERING GALE
Never easy to claim off a high percentage type like Chad Brown but these connections have done well in the last two years under the ship and win program (1 win, 3 in the money from 5 claims, ships to Del Mar). Should rate in behind other speed. Saves ground here.

7 REDRESSTHEBALANCE
Hasn’t been out since May when she pressed the pace at 11-1 first time blinkers on. She has a bit of backclass and prefers to come in off the pace. Been working for 2 months for return here to DMR.

CLM 16K – 1M 1/16 DIRT
4 DOYOUKNOWSOMETHING 7-2
2 PEFIOLO 2-1
5 WARREN’S WESLEY 5-2
7 TEN CARAT ROCK 8-1

BEST LONGSHOT CHANCE
#7 TEN CARAT ROCK (8-1)

4 DOYOUKNOWSOMETHING
Small barn, big rider in play. Came off a layoff and sprinted here, not likely his game. He ran pretty well at 13-1 to get 4th. That should serve as a good prep to stretch out here. Desormeaux stays and class drop. Sharper with more ground.

2 PEFIOLO
Have to respect these connections and he beat a few of these when first time with Baltas at this level in last. Winner was a 26-1 longshot who was coming in from GG. Been on the board 4 in a row. Distance is not a problem. One to beat.

DMR RACE 1 (2:05 PT) CLM 40K – 7F DIRT

1 DR. SIRTORI 20-1
3 BELLAMY CONCERT 3-1
6 MADIKWE 4-1
5 ATTACK 7-2

BEST LONGSHOT CHANCE
#1 DR. SIRTORI (20-1)

1 DR. SIRTORI
Debut wasn’t too bad. Broke slow but split that 10 horse field at 14-1. Trainer has 10 wins with this rider and 8 of them were at 8-1 or more. Toss last on off track. Solid 2 drills locally for this. He rates a serious upset chance here.

3 BELLAMY CONCERTO
Been close a few times for a hall of fame trainer and rider but don’t like how he hasn’t had much left late in the last few starts. Beaten at 3-5 in is most recent race. Winner a well-meant 2nd time starter.

DMR RACE 1 (2:05 PT)
CLM 12K-6.5F DIRT

8 GUCCI BROWN 5-2
2 WORTHY GRAPES 10-1
3 PRIVATE TERRACE 6-1
9 SEEK SAFE HARBOR 2-1

8 GUCCI BROWN
Pretty significant drop in class for this. She was facing higher priced foes in the Midwest and ran well in first start here. Bejerano picks up the call. 7th from last won for 25k clm next at 7-1. Winner four back won allw at TDN next start.

2 WORTHY GRAPES
She had very good TUP form and she beat the rail runner 3 back, with ease. Blinkers off in the last two and her speed was dull. They add blinkers and drops in class. Won only start at this distance.

R1--CLM 10K – 6.5F DIRT

3 SALLYANA 6-1
2 SMOOTH TALKER 5-2
6 LEXIE ARLEEN 3-1
7 NORASTONE 7-2

BEST LONGSHOT CHANCE
#3 SALLYANA (6-1)

3 SALLYANA
Claimed for 7k two back and she moved up to 20k at Sacramento in first start off the claim. She set the pace and faded at the mile distance. The winner came back to win for 25k at Santa Rosa on the turf, 80 Beyer. Was close to Lexie Arleen twice previous. Has a win at this 6.5F distance.

2 SMOOTH TALKER
Really looked good winning over many of these in her last start. She broke on top, settled off the pace and rallied to win in a romp. She might get another great pace set-up today. O’Neill is going for training title. He’s been hot all of Del Mar meet.

RACE 1 --- CLM 10K – 6.5F DIRT

4 BELLE ET BETE 5-2
3 ABETS ABET 4-1
1 LOOKIN FOR MONEY 2-1
6 SOUND CITY 5-1

4 BELLE ET BETE
Late runner has nibbled at this level or a bit above this level. Claimed from her last start for 40k by a high percentage outfit. D’Amato has an excellent record first off the claim. Filly comes into this with two very sharp works. She’ll improve first with the new barn and running style fits well.

3 ABETS ABET
Beat many of these with a good middle race move two back. She was moved up into a tougher spot and was steadied at a very important point in the race and she lost all chance. Runner-up came back to win opt clm 80k and then 3 back in a G1.

Race 2
CLM 20K – 6F DIRT
7 BASMATI 6-1
1 SHAME ON ALEX 6-1
10 SAINT ADALBERT 8-1
8 MISTAKEN IDENTITY 5-2

BEST LONGSHOT CHANCE
#7 BASMATI (6-1)

7 BASMATI
Likely went a bit too fast early last time out when he was on the inside. That may have cost him late. Like him better drawn to the outside which will allow him a stalk position. 469k earner, most was won by a 2nd in 1M Delta Jackpot. Gets a good trip.

1 SHAME ON ALEX
Hasn’t been out since a third at LRC at a mile in his last start. He should be able to save ground from the rail and move into some tiring faders in the lane. He’s been working sharply for his return for a top level trainer. Fits well with this company.

RACE 1
MSW 70K – 6.5F DIRT

4 DREAM TEAM 2-1 Garcia
2 SKELTON PASS 3-1 Baze
6 COLONIAL POWER 5-2 Bejarano
3 CLICKJAB 4-1 Graham

4 DREAM TEAM
This is a million dollar first time starter for Bob Baffert and the Tabor, Magnier, Smith ownership. They’ve been deliberate with getting him to the races. Baffert should have a good gauge on what he might be since he had his half-brother, Indianapolis, a winner in debut (actually 1st 3 starts) and was only 2 back in G1 sprint in 5th start. Works are typically fast for a Baffert first timer.

2 SKELTON PASS
3YO gelding has run just once and it was a superb effort when he ran 2nd to a Baltas 2nd timer. Those top two blistered with a final time of 1:09.3 (87 Beyer here). They were well clear of 3rd. 3rd and 4th came back to run 2nd and 1st in a mdn 40k claimer next out. Clockers impressed with how he is working since the claim. Sadler is 20% with first off the claim and into a MSW race.

R10 CLM 25K–1M TURF

3 WITH A TWIST 7-2
2 TIZ PARTNERS 8-1
9 AUNTY PEARL 6-1
4 AN UNUSUAL GROUP 8-1

3 WITH A TWIST
Those races at CD, TAM, AP are at least as good as this 25k claimer. She won from off the pace 4 back at TAM. Winner in last was coming in off of a 25k claiming win at BEL for Maker. She’s 4 for 6 at 1 mile.

2 TIZ PARTNERS
Claimed off of a 9% trainer 2 back for Puype. She ran evenly when in for 32k in last. The winner of that race came back to win a Cal-bred allowance at 9-1. Was facing a bit better company when in No. Calif.

RACE 7
HF BRUBAKER -80K – 1M DIRT

2 BIG CAZANOVA 5-2
7 MOTOWN MEN 2-1
6 SMOOTH ROLLER 4-1
3 ROCK ME BABY 4-1

2 BIG CAZANOVA
All 4 wins came wire to wire. The races that were in between were awfully tough, most filled with other speed that hurt his chance to win. Drop to this level and no one else with anywhere near his cruising speed and he should be long gone here, wire to wire.

7 MOTOWN MEN
Sensational late move to draw clear from a decent optional claiming group in last out. That makes it three wins in his last 5 since being claimed by West. Baze opts for this one over the runner to his inside. Will be right on the heels of the top choice early.

BIG CAZANOVA is supposed to crush these horses.
I have no idea why he opened @ 14-1. There was hardly any significant money showing, maybe there 1st flash is from the morning or from an odd location, still not something I love to see.

Can't fault Tyler there after the horse missed the break. Very bad luck to have nowhere to run the whole race on a horse who didn't want to rate.

Hopefully inflated odds next time in a race he can wire the field.
