W10: be careful about installing on laptops

A Windows 10 feature, Wi-Fi Sense, smells like a security risk: it shares Wi-Fi passwords with the user's contacts.

If you don't care about having complete control over who can access your Wi-Fi network then never mind. But, OTOH, you should understand the level of control you are giving up by reading the entire article before installing W10 on a laptop.

The thing I don't like is Microsoft expecting me to change the SSID to match some naming convention in order to opt-out. Oh so typical of Microsoft.

This is why I won't bother doing the download until sometime in 2016. Hopefully they will work out some problems. Microsoft isn't stupid, by GIVING you something.

I bought a W7 computer a year and a few months ago.
Might unpack it and fire it up this weekend.

Bugs probably out of it by now.

Be prepared. When I bought my laptop loaded with W7 about a year ago it took about 6 hours to download all the updates from Microsoft. Once finished it has worked fabulously ever since.
