Or will he suffer digestive distress because he will be forced to eat "foreign" food?

If we had the exact ingredients, then the restriction on shipping the feed would not have made the news.

So Mubtaahij loses a battle down the stretch & the excuse the trainer will use is the horse wasn't himself because of the different food he had to eat......I can see the headlines now.

He has never stalked this kind of pace against this caliber of horse before.
If he's good enough, I'll tip my fedora.

Carpe Diem put 29 1/4 lengths on My Johnny Be Good in the Tampa Bay Derby, Mubtaahij beat him by 27 3/4 in a little longer race.

very slow fractions in the UAE Derby which could explain all that energy left and his boost that looked like someone pressed a nitrous button

You gotta factor in the lack of run up time in Dubai so take about two seconds off those fractions. Still somewhat pedestrian but not pokey. Probably worth noting that race was 40 feet shorter than true 1 3/8 race so factor that into your analysis.

You do realize they time over there from when the gate opens right? No run up. That makes the times look different.

I will put Mubtaahij in my 7 horses underneath in my triples & supers.......will also play a small exacta with him 2nd.

I'm confident in saying he will NOT win the KD!

Using the Trakus data, here are the average sectional times of all the winners at 1900m over the new dirt surface at Meydan. There were 11 races in total and 10 of the 11 races involved older horses;

26.57/24.29/24.73/25.16/19.17

And here's Mubtaahij's splits from the UAE Derby in comparison using the same Trakus data;

26.31/24.01/24.19/25.10/18.74

Can't exactly say he was above par for each section due to the different classifications of the races. But what it does say is that his sectional times for a 1900m race were above average in all five sections with four of his five being somewhat significantly faster than average. And again, the vast majority of the other races he's being compared to here involved older horses.

thats true i forgot about that... Here are California Chrome's fractions

25.3, 49.3, 1:12.4, 1:38, 2:03.3

at the 1600 meter mark Chrome at 1:38 Moobsie at 1:39.3. Chrome would have 8 lengths on him at that point.

at 1900 meters Chrome is at 1:57.2 and he covered 1943 meters due to his trip

at 1900 meters (finish) Moobsie 1:58.2 and he covered 1921 meters.

thus Chrome would of been ahead of Moobs by 5 lengths... dont knwo what to make of it just stating the facts... maybe thats a good thing... would Dortmund or American Pharoah be within 5 lengths of California Chrome.. no idea

here is something interesting seconds per every 100 meters

Mubtaahij | California Chrome

8.91...............9.16
5.62 (14.53)....5.39 (14.55)
5.74 (20.27)....5.59 (20.14)
6.03 (26.30)....5.53 (25.67)
5.91 (32.21)....5.92 (31.59)
6.14 (38.35)....5.88 (37.47)
6.03 (44.38)....6.11 (43.58)
5.91 (50.29)....5.96 (49.54)
5.88 (56.17)....5.81 (55.35)
5.97 (62.14)....5.85 (61.20)
6.06 (68.20)....5.85 (67.05)
6.26 (74.46)....5.80 (72.85)
6.40 (80.86)....6.11 (78.96)
6.43 (87.29)....6.40 (85.36)
6.14 (93.43)....6.37 (91.73)
6.11 (99.54)....6.22 (97.95)
6.08 (105.62)...6.32 (104.27)
6.08 (111.70)...6.43 (110.70)
6.57 (118.27)...6.63 (117.33)
.....................6.75 (124.08)

The horse wants an easy rail trip. That doesn't happen in the Derby Stampede.
