Unless he wins with some authority, I can't see playing Pharoah on Derby Day with just two preps under his belt this year.....

More than authority - he was winding down at the finish and still went under 1:49.

Well, the did win some authority. Impressive. Hope he's not another Demon's Begone, and I'm glad the announcer didn't say, "Look out Kentucky!"

He looks better than Bernardini.
This could be a triple crown, with good health, and some racing luck.

Thats a strong statement... but im diggin' it... American Pharoah is the truth. Cant wait to watch Cal Chrome square off at some point vs this years derby winner. we rarely ever get to see that.
Paul Lo Duca said it best "Looks like Big Brown"

Espinoza must be living the good life.
Someone needs to ask him who is better CC or AP?

American Pharoah is obviously one of the best horses in the nation, but I'm not sold he's winning the Kentucky Derby.

Fractions were 48 1/5 1:13 in the Illinois Derby, which were almost the exact fractions the poster said would do no good for a prep, thus my comment.
Doesn't matter though, because fractions in this race were no where near that plodding. AP proved me wrong. My money was on Far Right.

AP pace numbers from those two almost identical to I'll Have Another in his last two preps before the derby. However, IHA was rating and not on the lead so a little more impressive imo; also one was at 9f so not exactly apples to apples. Having said that AP looked unbeatable today.

I like Far Right. He gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling that he can handle 20 horse banging around for position and that he can come from the clouds to clean up if there is a pace meltdown. The break and traffic will be of no concern for him, if he gets Mike Smith for the Derby, I'm all over it.
