Was it the blinkers? The all-weather surface? The jockey? Whatever it was, ROYAL SON ran a huge race last time and is clearly the one to beat.

Firespike has a chance to be a bomber. I will use him with Conqust Typhoon and Metaboss.

Royal Son
Royal Son never broke his maiden in his first 4 tries and never exceeded a Brisnet speed figure in the 80s. He wins the Battaglia with a powerful 103 Brisnet speed figure. 3year olds can sometimes develop dramatically and seemingly overnight as the season progresses. (see Charismatic's ops).
Now the question arises-- Is he an all weather track champion or has he just matured and developed into a real contender for the Ky Derby?
Interestingly, Royal Son is inbred to the superior female, Lassie Dear on the dam side which makes him have two roads to Buckpasser's X chromosome.
Could be a big factor on the trail or could be a polytrack freak. We will not find out until later today if he is still a strong factor come Derby day and even if he wins today he will still probably be a longshot on Derby Day.

So where did they show the race?
I'm watching TVG because they are talking about it,then realize it is 6:38, so I go to HRTV and see the last 1/8th mile on replay.
If you are not going to show the race, -please keep your mouths shut about it.
Jerks.

Jose Lezano...wins back to back stakes. Good for him.
Tom, TVG's going back to Turfway after this little heat at Golden Gate.

The and had signs in their form that they could run big today, and they most certainly did.
Feel stupid for letting the post of the bother me so much that I completely kicked him. That was a helluva ride by Lezcano letting the race develop and fall apart in front of him. Metaboss at 9/5 and Royal Son at 5/2 were simply unplayable to me coming in off of career best efforts.

I had the same reaction. They had the tv icon next to the race, then it changes to a tape.I had to go running to the computer and caught it about 30 seconds in. The only significant derby prep of the day.
