The Senate bill was to extend Suffolk's ability to offer simulcasting until 07/31/16. The final House bill allows Suffolk to keep their simulcast license until 03/31/15.

Hey lamboguy,
I hear that talks between the owners and horsemen have restarted. Folks trying to divert some of the casino monies designated for purses to operational expenses, which may or may not be possible. Track owners thinking about a 25-30 meet, whereas horsemen want at least 50 days. Time will soon be running out before some type of decision will need to be made.
What are the Carneys thinking about regarding the latest developments? Is Brockton still realistically in the picture for running any dates in 2015, even if under the agricultural/fair arrangement? Inquiring minds want to know.

i haven't spoken to them, but i don't think they are to interested in running a meet there and having to give the simulcast and source marketing fee over to sufolk.
the mass. legislature has classified sufolk as a running race thoroughbred race track without having to run a meet.

i just spoke to Chris and he tells me that he is 100% out
if everything had worked out i was going to get hold of some horses and train them myself there for their meet.
from what he told me, Sufolk is trying to run a 10 day meet.

Well, that is extremely disappointing! Thanks for taking the time to get me an update though!
A 10-day meet..........just a "little" short of the 50-day meet the horsemen were hoping to get.

no racing at Brocton for sure
Mr Carney applied for class 1 casino license region C
He will put it on the Brocton fairgrounds land if awarded
Lots of hurdles to go but they already put up
400k for the slots license that plairidge grabbed
so why not take another shot!!!
hope they do better this time..

hi friend, i wish i lived closer to the Brocton Fair, they are using the place as a snow farm now, i ran out of room to put my snow, and as you know my property is anything but a small space!
this next storm is the croaker, its coming with plenty of wind. i was supposed to be on a plane to Florida to watch a few good 2 year olds breeze, the next blizzard has kept me in place.

I've neither heard nor seen anything about the "3-days over 3 months" meet, which is supposed to start July 11?
Anyone?

I thought I read where there was supposed to be steeplechase racing on 7/11, but on bloodhorse, it was reported this was moved to Parx...go figure...
There does not appear to be any racing scheduled at Suffolk anytime soon.

A recent Boston Globe article (behind a paywall, screw them) basically said July 11 ain't happening, and threw serious doubt over whether any casino $$ would ever flow to TBs.
Suffolk was my home track when I got into the game (plus the Rock), but I'd rather see it go out in a Viking funeral than be kept of life support with virtually no logical signs of recovery.
