Just made my last Mountaineer bet.
With that said, it's a track that produces lots of value of you do the work, bombs hit all the time here, if you like Mountaineer i suggest you play this place till your hearts content. Its just not a track i can play anymore unless its the only track i follow and i do a lot more work on this place, which i don't plan on doing.
When a horse like Paul Bunyan (last race) runs over my money, that's a sign to stop betting this place. I'm not good enough to have a horse like this ever, on any ticket, in any position.....so, if this horse beats me, it means i'm not currently good enough to conquer the mountain.
Good luck to mountain fans and bettors, i just won't be one of them.
Paul Bunyan's form reversal cost you guys a customer.

You're complaining about a 90-1 shot running third?

I think the best horse won the race, and at the risk of a redboard,it partially made up for a brutal weekend at the windows for me.

I never saw that race.
But tell us what track anywhere, that type of form reversal, probably fleeting, doesn't happen, sometimes several times a month?

If someone can satisfactorily explain to me how this horse magically didn't lose by 10 lengths or more, i'll reconsider betting this place in the future.
I know that "Form reversals happen" but i've always believed that if a horse does something, it was capable of doing that very thing by definition. So, this horse was capable of doing what it did......but if there's no rhyme or reason for this happening, i'm going to pass on the Mountain.
Give me your best shot and tell me how this horse hit the board.

He looked more alert than usual on the track...and it seemed to me that he had gained at least 50 pounds since his last start. He had a sharp work 12 days ago, as well...comparatively speaking.

My dad taught me when I was five: any pig can plop up for 3rd, especially in the right circumstances like this.
5 across the track dueling.
2 more sent right behind (PPS 1&2)
2 horses off slow.
So, as a plodder he sat in a great spot 8th, off the action and ahead of two horses who missed the break. The race collapsed and he sucked up 3rd. Not a shocking event for any donkey.
Now, to his form...
He looks like ca ca poo poo. Only thing I can say is his most recent work was his fastest in 6 works since April of 2013 & see above explanation of third.
If the rest of the field sucks, anyone can suck up 3rd with a super trip.

there are many reasons why i might consider stopping play at a given track...but a freaky horse getting up for third is not one of them, so im gonna disagree with SRU on this one.

Talk about form reversals:
9:47 p.m. "Just made my last Mountaineer bet."
11:24 p.m. "If someone can satisfactorily explain to me how this horse magically didn't lose by 10 lengths or more, i'll reconsider betting this place in the future."

At SRU Downs, this horse would not have been allowed to enter/race??

You can't stop betting Mountaineer. What else would you do Monday and Tuesday nights?
