R10 MD CLM 50k –5.5F (D)
#8 DIAMOND CUT 8-1
#12 KAT’S HURRICANE 3-1
#2 GOLD JOURNEY 8-1
#1 SCATAJAWEA 8-1

#8 DIAMOND CUT

First timer for Mike Machowsky who just won (10-18-14) with a 2YO debut runner at this same 50k maiden claiming level and ridden by Perez (off at 8-1). The works were similar between the two of them. He ran in company with Oh Brother Go (running in the 3rd race today). Clockers said he did well and were impressed with the 2YO keeping up with older. Some things to like here.

R4 BC JUV FILLY - 2,000,000 – 1M 1/16 DIRT

#10 WONDER GAL 12-1 Smith Gyarmati
#2 ANGELA RENEE 3-1 Velazquez Pletcher
#1 FEATHERED 8-1 Castellano Pletcher
#4 CONQUEST ECLIPSE 4-1 Nakatani Casse

#10 WONDER GAL
This filly is sitting on a big race. She was 5-2 in the Adirondak 2 back and had a tough trip in tight on the rail multiple times. She still grinded out 3rd. Was on a very dead rail in the G1 Frizette while the winner in the middle of the track. Female tree produced 5M winner, Perfect Drift (3rd in ‘03 Ky Dby and 3rd ‘05 BC Classic). Live ‘shot of the day.

#2 ANGELA RENEE
Have to like the fact that Pletcher shipped her to SA to get a run over the track. She was clearly best over many of these in the G1 Chandelier. Three have come back to win from that race (6th Sharla Rae 75k stakes at GG, 7th Lutine Belle Opt Clm at GG and 11th Maybellene Opt Clm at SA). Sh beat the top choice in the Adirondak.

#1 FEATHERED
Royal blood in the backbreeding. A few generations back shows Dancing Spree, Furlough and Fantastic Find, all G1 winners. This filly may not have liked the off-going in the Frizette. She won in a hand ride to break her maiden two back in a very fast time for that day.

HISTORICAL: 30 Yrs – Speed!! For 5 straight years the winner has been wire to wire (She’s a Tiger in ’13 pre-DQ) or pressing the lead. West Coast runners have done well when held at SA.

SANTA ANITA 10-30-14 R5 MSW 56k – 6.5F DIRT

#5 DORTMUND 7-2
#8 BIG HAT CHARLIE 6-1
#9 SERBIAN SYCLONE 9-2
#12 PASSINAFLASH 8-1

#5 DORTMUND

Baffert debut runner has a 17 for 37 (46%) record with first timers for this owner (same owner as BC Classic winner, Bayern) in MSW company sprinting. Female tree produced ’85 Champagne winner, Mogambo (950k). Works are superb, typically Baffert fast. Outworked a mate by 15 lengths on 10-10-14 (45.4H).

#8 BIG HAT CHARLIE
Bonde is normally excellent with 2 YO debut runners but hasn’t been so of late. However, this one is working very fast (clockers say he has good speed in the AM, Gryder up). Fast moves. Half to a nice 2 YO, Positively, 2nd in 2012 Iroquois, Bashford Manor, 2 YO stakes.
