R1 CLM 16,000 1M DIRT

4 THERMAL NERMAL 3-1
2 BELONGING 8-1
7 NO TRICKS FOR JACK 5-2
5 THUMAMAH 15-1

4 THERMAL NERMAL
Took a major class drop in her last start and she won with style. She was claimed from that race and moves up slightly in class today. That race was pretty solid for the level and was flattered when 5th place finisher, Magic Number dropped to 8k and won at 7-2. Might feel pace pressure early.

2 BELONGING

Considered No Tricks for Jack for the 1st or 2nd spot but she was a VET SCRATCH since her last race. There might be a lot of speed in here and this one might be able to come from off the pace. Quality win at the N2L level in last at 4-1. The apprentice rider stays. Gets a good trip.

R3 CLM 50,000 6F DIRT

3 WORLD FAMOUS SAM 4-1
6 HEYYOUCAN 10-1
2 PRESSURE TIME 3-1
5 I’VE HAD ENOUGH 15-1

3 WORLD FAMOUS SAM T
Hess has had three runners here this meet that were first off the claim and ridden by Desormeaux. He won them all. This one was taken for 10k in last and comes back at 16k with ultra-slow works. No chance this runner is that slow. Won his only start on the synthetic surface. Should be live.

6 HEYYOUCAN
Low percentage trainer has an odd record when it comes to first off the claim. He is a 7% trainer over all but is 25% first off the claim and has hit the board in 8 of 12 (67%) in those new acquisitions. This one had blinkers on in last and he flopped. They come off here. Has beaten better.

R9 - 20,000 MDN CLM - 6F DIRT

7 INTOCLASSYMISCHIEF 9-2 Arias
2 JULIET’S TIZZY 5-2 Perez
6 HIDDEN ZENSATION 6-1 Desormeaux
10 VICTORY PARADE 12-1 Hernandez

7 INTOCLASSYMISCHIEF

Nibbled vs better. He flashed speed and split a large field in last. The 3rd place finisher from that race is G3 placed now. He has been working well and the clockers give him some of the better comments of anyone in this race. O’Neill is a stellar 4 for 6 with long layoffs in maiden claiming at DMR (another was 2nd beaten a length). 2 such winners this meet.

R1 20,000 CLM 1M DIRT

3 PAPA’S PAISLEY 6-1
4 PRINCE OF PARIS 8-1
7 LOCAL ONE THIRTY 5-2
1 ONTOLOGY 2-1

3 PAPA’S PAISLEY
Tried the turf for the 2nd time last time out and he didn’t run much on it. He didn’t fire the first time either, so we can conclude turf is not for him. Ran well two back at this level at OTP. Exited key race three back and was extremely wide entire trip. 2 came back to win from that race. Rider upgrade.

4 PRINCE OF PARIS
Glatt runner was in the same race as top choice last time out. He was getting a great trip behind contested speed but caught traffic for much of the early stretch. Appears to be better routing. Hasn’t shown an affinity for synthetic but it’s too early to draw conclusions. Nice work tab lately.

R1 MAIDEN CLAIMING 30,000 5F DIRT
9 AWE GEE 5-1 Pedroza
6 ROSIE BROWN 4-1 Trujillo
4 GOLD JOURNEY 5-2 Bejarano
1 FEISTY SWISS 6-1 Perez

9 AWE GEE
Well-beaten 5th in debut but that appears to be a key race as the runner-up came back to win in MSW. The time was the same 5F as the interior fractions in the 6F G1 Bing Crosby won by Big Macher earlier. This one had a poor trip as she was off slow and in tight for most of the turn.

6 ROSIE BROWN
Miller is 8 for 20 (40%) with 11 in the money with a first timer two-year old in maiden claiming. He is 5 for 9 with such here at DMR when starting for the lower mc price. Rider has won 2 out of 10 for Miller. Cheap purchase just last mo. so this is a good spot to start. Tab tote for clues.

With a race under her belt and the decent finish last time, I was surprised she went backwards in the stretch, Valento. Had identified her as a playback in a key race as you did.

R1 MDN CLAIMING 40,000 6F DIRT

3 KINGS ADVENTURE 9-5 Baze
4 SILVER TORCH 5-2 Desormeaux
2 ENLISTED MAN 7-2 Gryder
1 COOLINGTON 5-1 Smith

3 KINGS ADVENTURE

Showed speed in all three starts. Was a solid 4th in last in a very good MSW race here. Only poor race came with blinkers on two back. 3rd in debut was flattered when 5th place finisher, Shakahari, came back to win (over main threat Silver Torch).

4 SILVER TORCH

The only runner that closed in the last race was the 3-1 Baffert favored Aleander. Otherwise, the top two were on the lead from the start and the 45.4 half mile was good for speed pressers. Hess and Desormeaux having a big meet. Main danger.

R2 ALLW 77,000 – 1M 1/8 - TURF

3 MAGNIFICENT SHIRL 5-1
6 SISTAS STROLL 4-1
4 KADESHA 5-2
5 MARCYJANE 12-1

3 MAGNIFICENT SHIRL
She has had brutal trips in both of her last two starts. She was forced very wide two back in a race that produced three next out winners, including Winning Rhythm, who beat this one last time out. She was steadied 3x in last and eased in when there was a rider tossed in the lane. A bunch of millionaire turfers in the female tree (Shakespeare).

RACE 1 CLM 25,000 - 6F - DIRT

4 U S CITIZEN 2-1
5 FIGHTING ON 5-2
1 JIMMY’S DATE 5-1
2 RUM POINT 3-1

4 U S CITIZEN
Most likely winner here. He has a run over the track (and a good one at that). Exits a race where two also-rans came back to win (80 and 65 Beyers). He is making his 2nd start in the claiming ranks and retains a top rider. Sits off the pace, blows by late.

5 FIGHTING ON
Claimed in early June and been working regularly for Ellis. Had hit the board in 10 straight prior to last. Runner-up 3 back was 2nd in the 90k Green Flash at long odds earlier this week. Ellis good stats at DMR off of layoffs and first off the claim.

RACE 1 - CLAIMING 16,000 - 6.5F - DIRT
2 RHODIUM 4-1
6 NO TRICKS FOR JACK 4-1
1 FIESTA EXPRESS 3-1
3 WOEBEGON 3-1

2 RHODIUM
Biggest advantage is her running style and cutback to 6.5F. A strong angle is router with speed cutting back to 6.5 especially when she projects to be stalking the early speed. Espinoza was up for many of her races including her last win which was Nov 23 at this distance at BHP. Runner-up in last came back to run 2nd at 32,000 at 5-1 with a 75 Beyer. She faces a good field for the level here and will need her A game.

R1 - MSW 75k – 6F - DIRT

3 FOREST CHATTER 3-1
2 BOOKWORM 2-1
4 WADE 5-2
1 CRIMINAL ELEMENT 6-1

#3 FOREST CHATTER working very well for his debut for Mandella who is 0 for 3 with 3YO+ debut runners in MSW at DMR but did have a 2nd by a head a few years back. Female tree reveals the 1995 BC Sprint runner-up, Mr. Greeley. Has been outworking foes in the morning. Gets Smith. Only non-Cal bred in the race.

#2 BOOKWORM in tight early in debut and was grinding away to get up for 2nd late. Works have been very sharp for his 2nd time out and Baffert is 27% with these returnees in MSW company.

#4 WADE
was prominent in debut after breaking last (rushed up) ran 2nd. The one to beat.

7 TIM’S GO GIRL 3-1
4 NOTHING TO HIDE 7-2
5 APPEALING RESUME 7-2
2 OSCILLATOR 5-2

7 TIM’S GO GIRL

She has been popular in the claim box. She has been claimed 4x in her last 5 starts. Like the move up off the claim for O’Neill, who often drops off the claim. She was very strong on the cutback to 5.5f last time out. She beat a solid field for the level. 3rd place finisher came back and beat the same level at 4-1 with a 72 Beyer. Can press the pace or come from behind, as well

2 CONQUEST PANTHERA 2-1
4 DREAM IT DO IT 5-1
5 MADIBA 5-2
1 PAIN AND MSRY 5-1

2 CONQUEST PANTHERA

Female tree produced ’94 G1 Apple Blossom winner, Nine Kys. 475k purchase for a trainer who is excellent with juvenile runners. The works have been fantastic. The clockers indicated he was outworking older foes. He was finishing strong in the morning so expect him to have a serious late kick. Casse debut runners have been live for the most part at the meet. Doesn’t hurt to have Smith in the irons, as well. Looks live

R6 OPT CLAIMING 50,000 – 6F - DIRT

8 WEDDING BLUSH 2-1 Bejarano Hollendorfer
7 MYRNA LOU 7-2 Pereira Pearson
9 SEHZAPIRANHA 5-1 Desormx Sherlock
1 OH DEANN 5-1 Baze O’Neill

8 WEDDING BLUSH
Third in the Wine Country was a good effort last time out. That was a pretty solid field at Santa Rosa. The last place finisher was Do the Danse, the winner of the J Gonzalez Mem at OTP on July 5 over Myrna Lou. Winner a Hollendorfer juvenile filly who has a big future. Moger shows confidence bringing her to DMR and putting Bejarano up (who he has won 30% with the last 2 years).

7 LOOKIN FOR JONESY 10-1 Perez Cerin

#6 PRETTYHOTPRINCESS was a vet scratch since her last start. This one was impressive in her first local start when she was 3rd vs the same type of company at 5F. The extra distance should be a good thing as she has done her best running at this distance. The winner three back has won two stakes races since that win (and was 3rd in an allw at SAR). The work was very fast in prep for this.
