The TVG graphic had 19-1 with about 3 or 4 horses loaded, than as the race started, he was 15-1 for about the first 10 seconds of the race, than switched down to 13-1.

Right? Another Chad Brown winner. Can't remember the last time the guy lost a race at any track.

I was watching TVG Friday 7/4/14 race 6 at Belmont all the horses were loaded in the starting gate when #4 Engine broke through the gate but was held by the gate crew member.
The host on TVG immediately canceled his bet on the #4.
#4 Engine went on to win the race.
So all horses were loaded in the gates, that were ready to open and betting is still happening, really makes me wonder how long wagering stays open after the gate does.

Since it is supposed to close when the gates open, I'm not sure I see a real problem here.

when the gates open and i mean all the gates open the betting stops. The machines shut off and you cant print no more tickets. Its not that difficult to understand people.

Good post, SRU. Facts first, good presentation.
Let's attribute the last second reduction in odds to conditional bets that were processed prior to the bell as well as some In Transit money. This will be the norm (it seems) where large pools are available.
I find it interesting that someone or some people found Zivo to be an overlay at 19-1, since I didn't notice that he was in the race. Nothing nefarious about the late action especially since he's a late closer but that someone rated Zivo to be 13-1, off his NY Bred 1 Mile races, is surprising. If he went off at 25-1 with a M/L of 201-1, I wouldn't have been surprised. Those offset with the late Zivo money were primarily Vyjack and a bit on the #7, #8 and #10. The other entrants all took some late money as well. I guess if Zivo didn't win we wouldn't have noticed.
It's just my opinion, but someone not betting real money may not find this thread interesting.

The horse was dead last through 6f. I'm still wondering what the point is here.

Huge Day for Jose Lezcano
A better threat would've been, what a day for Jose Lezcano. How many times do you see a jockey win three races in a race, and they just happen to be a GR1, GR2, GR3? And two of the horses were big longshots.
