Shared Belief
After an injury knocked him off the Derby trail, 2 year old male champion of 2013 Shared Belief will make his 2014 debut this Memorial Day at Golden Gate.

Looking forward to it, but eventually we have to see him on dirt.

Yep. And still some would have us believe he is a top tier 3YO. Not saying he couldn't have been, but just how silly it is to rate horses highly that haven't...you know...actually raced as a 3yo.

One of the oddest placements for a return in this era.

Hollendorfer is just easing him back in.
If CC isn't retired after the TC, things could set up very nicely for Del Mar.

West Coast version of what Palace Malice just did.
Wonder if GGF will cancel the place pool as well.

Photo finish! For second. Way behind Shared Belief.
Nice little warm up. Good to know Shared Belief is back.

Moonshine Bay should have been coupled with the chalk....or he should have actually tried to win. The public expects a separate betting interest to NOT be ridden to help out a fancier barnmate.

Good thing Shared Belief had that help. Whew, he was in real trouble there until his pedestrian stable mate laid down his life for him.
Please.

Even the announcer commented on the fact that his stablemate was being ridden very conservatively.

He's a very talented horse.
I'm not so worried about him running well on dirt but it will be interesting to see if his feet can hold up running races on dirt.

Moonshine Bay was in to make sure the race filled, I would guess. It was truly a paid workout for him. Funny how he was the one feeling the whip in the stretch though. Anyone putting their money on him in the win pool made a huge mistake as everyone had to know that Hollendorfer and Todaro wanted more than anything to see how Shared Belief would run, and Moonlight Bay was strictly a filler in this spot. Kind of like that 3 year old they ran with Seabiscuit in his final Santa Anita Handicap win. "Stay out of his way.............., unless he falters."
