Scratch Manager program error in Illinois Derby

The program is supposed to make automatic scratches on your software program and it scratched the #1 and #7.When I checked the tote 10 min before the race, the #1 was running and went on to win.Anyone had the same problem?

Mr. Lopez,

Scratch Manager takes all your daily BRIS files, then grabs Equibase scratches, jockey, and surface changes and then re-writes new and improved BRIS files. These new BRIS files contain all available scratches, surface changes, jockey changes, new post positions, and new correct jockey statistics.

Scratch Manager depends on information in the .XML scratch file created by Equibase for all changes made to your the BRIS files. If Equibase enters incorrect scratch data into the .XML file, then Scratch Manager will make incorrect scratches based on the false data. This happens very infrequently. I have only heard of this happening a few times a year.

Unfortunately, Equibase incorrectly listed both Dynamic Impact and Global Strike as scratches in Keenland's 9th race. You can verify this by opening Scratch Manager and grabbing today's Equibase scratch information and looking at Keenland's 9th race.

For comparison, if the original BRIS file incorrectly contained data that made the Illinois Derby a Turf race, then all handicapping software would make selections as if the race was on the Turf. No handicapping software could possibly know the race was on the dirt.

The old computer adage that states "Garbage in - Garbage out" applies here.

Following is a portion of the text from today's Equibase Scratch .XML file dated April 19, 2014. Notice both horses were listed as scratches at Keenland in the 9th race.

Many users have used Scratch Manager for the last couple of years and processed over 70,000 races. There has never been any reports of a programming error in Scratch Manager....

I don't see an error by Equibase. The XML looks correct. Both horses were scratched. Here's the chart. http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbP...AY=D&STYLE=EQB

I just spoke with Keenland and BRIS officials. They said that both horses can be listed to run in races at both Keenland and Hawthorn without being scratched up to 45 minutes before post time. This rule applies only to stakes races.

BRIS sells the "final" single data files for tracks about 24 hours before raceday. So, your purchased BRIS files for Keenland and Hawthorn would each contain data for the both horses in question.

Keenland reported the scratches at about noon on the day of the race. BRIS doesn't remove horses from data files files during the afternoon on raceday. Most people have already purchased the BRIS files by that time.

Stakes horses listed in multiple BRIS files are a very rare occurrence and only happen when both tracks are located close together. My suggestion is that you just load the original BRIS file for Hawthorn and you would have not have any problems. Scratch Manager would have correctly removed Dynamic Impact and Global Strike from Keenland's BRIS file.

Scratch Manager looks at each horse in each BRIS file. Since both horses were listed as a scratch in the Equibase file, it created new BRIS files for Keenland and Hawthorn with both horses scratched in each file.

Here is the Hawthorn chart. http://www.equibase.com/static/chart...041914USA9.pdf
