My question is how does PETA know when a horse is sore or getting drugged? They don't have a clue when a horse is sore they couldn't tell the front end from the back end of a horse. And using Lasix on a horse is not drugging. And the tapping of joints is not drugging its perfectly legal.

Now the buzzer machine they have some explaining to do.

Maybe horse trainers can be more transparent with release of animal health, vet records and medication schedules... isnt that something that is required at SRU downs?

This part could be a legal nightmare for Steve A./Scott B.

PETA has also accused Asmussen of employing undocumented workers, requiring them to use false names on Internal Revenue Service forms, and conspiring with Blasi to produce false identification documents, according to the complaints filed with state and federal agencies. Asmussen also paid the PETA investigator $5.95 an hour —

This is really asking for trouble.
The IRS & Immigration looking hard at you.
Requiring people that work for you to use false names on IRS forms.
Making False ID documents.
If they have proof ( and that's a big if ),his goose is cooked.

I know it is without context in many areas, but very damning, a lot of heads need to roll.

If you going to nail Blasi on the buzzer charge why not nail Stevens and Lukas also? The tape clearly shows them talking about using machines.

The illegal workers working for them they going to get nailed on that. The buzzers they might get nailed on that too. Everything else they will be cleared.

From all that was said...and what I saw...This does not look good at all. I hope it's just a very few that run their stable like this...But....I think I'm old enough to know better.

It's mind-boggling that this is the attitude of the winningest stable in the country.

Yes but it all has to be knocked down before it is rebuilt from scratch, maybe this is the start to that.

Anything to clean up the sport.

My own cheat index for 2014, a math-based work in progress, has Asmussen in the grey area between 10 and 20 pts. So the PETA investigation would support that. At least, I read it as he is doing some cheating, but not over the top, which is probably a rather widespread approach. Fwiw, trainers over 20 pts are too suspect not to avoid. (For the trust level I used a standard set by Graham Motion, Peter Miller, Carla Gaines, and Mike Puype). Pletcher is in the same area as Asmussen, as is McLaughlin. But that's not meant as allegation. Only as a help to not make sucker bets.
