Ducy by David Sklansky

Has anybody read this book? Is worth the time and money? The reviews are mixed. I was thinking it might be something I could read in a doctor's office while waiting. What do you think?

I would recommend William Poundstone's "Prisoner's Dilemma" instead...

Sklansky's Theory of Poker, Holdem Poker for advanced players and No Limit Hold'em are among the best and most influential gambling books ever. Not all of his books are of the same quality though. I am referring to HOw to make 100K per year, Getting the Best of it and Poker gaming and life. Although I will certainly buy his new book, I do not expect to find anything new in it.

If you get one good idea out of the book, it's worth it. Sklansky books usually have something that's of use to most people.

I'm well aware.

If you're really interested in this book, David gives a summary of its contents here.

I bought the kindle edition.

Very disappointing book...

I find the praise to the author 'genius' really annoying as it covers several pages. I really do not think that I have anything to gain nor I am interested about Sklansky's SAT score or how accomplished his relatives are..

The book is full of stories, presented by an arrogant writer who thinks he is far smarter than his reader and overall does not provide anything new.

If you want my opinion, please do not waste your time and money...

You mean $14.95 is too much to pay for the theories of a "renowned strategist"?

At this point the difference between $14.95 and $1.99 is not a deal killer. It is losing how ever long it takes to read it from my life, if it is a bad book. Don't laugh too hard, you'll get there someday.

Jessie May lacks the poker credentials and the writing skills to write that sort of book.

I recommend Tommy Angelo.

If you're looking for an interesting read from a true character, check out Cowboy Wolford's book, "Cowboys, Gamblers and Hustlers."

It was at my local library and I read it twice.
