Anyone going to next week's HPWS tournament at the Orleans?

I'll be there. Got in last Sunday in the very last qualifier held by horsetourneys.com.

Hope to see some of you guys there.

Day 1 Results

I was able to obtain the Day 1 Results from The Orleans. See attachment. I'll post Days 2 and 3 if I get them.

I see William Cullen tied for 324th with $1,197.00 after Day 2.

Also, noticed that at least one guy has 7 seperate entries -- isn't that a bit crazy? Kind of allows someone to buy themselves a championship, although I don't see how you could be focused when you would have to be constantly standing at the window getting in your plays.

Leader sits at $3,704.00 after Day 2 which would be an R.O.I. of 2.05 -- that's pretty awesome!

I'm not a big fan of multiple entries, but it is funny when people walk around talking about their totals, and then say, under their breath, "but that's on all my tickets combined".

I've got 1,818 going into day 3 and I feel good about the cards today. Didn't see much to play yesterday so I wasn't surprised with the bad day. Today, I see a lot to like so it's just down to them winning for me!

7 entries would be an ungodly amount to keep track of. What a lot of people with the multi entries do is design the tickets and put them in early and then adjust throughout the day. As for buying them, I can pretty much guarantee you that people do not buy that many. Maybe a few do, but many people qualify multiple times.

I am sitting in the low 200s after day 2. Goal is to get in the money. It should be an interesting day as the Saturday cards are looking good, but that is tempered by the rain that we will see at some of them.

Multiple entries

It's interesting you brought up the topic of multiple entries.

It is something we are looking into as well. What, if I may ask, is the ultimate number. I don't want to discourage our partners from having qualifying tournaments. At the same time, I believe there should be a cap.

Just not sure what the number should be.

We had 792 at this years tournament. It appears that when the number reached 700 or so we got additional buy ins.

On a side note, we are having a qualifying tournament Sunday at the Orleans as well. $100 buy in and $400 in live money. We are giving away 3 HPWS entries for next year.

Jay,

Thanks for much for posting the standings! I know a few of those playing so it is fun to look at. You would think the Orleans would use social media to give updates, etc.

Good luck to everyone in the tournament. Wish I was there.

I think 2 should be the max. Would prefer 1, but it does keep the qualifying tournaments competitive, and 2 is reasonable in my opinion.

Thanks for asking!

Good luck to Bill Cullen, Charli125 and kingfin66 as well as the guys from Assiniboia Downs on Day 3. Good to see the support. I believe there are about 10 guys from ASD (my home track).

I hope to make the trip next year whether I qualify or not.

Also, PaceAdvantage will have our own Qualifier participating next year thanks to our friends at The Orleans and The Horse Player World Series. If you aren't aware you can qualify on PaceAdvantage.com by participating in our Challenge Series. See details here.

Contest 2, the P.A.I.H.L. is closed to entries but players can still jump in on Contest 1, the Gapfire.com Ridersup Memorial Aqueduct Inner Track Challenge todayor tomorrow as there is no deadline for entry. See details here.

My thoughts on multiple entries would be a maximum of two or three per person. I think this is especially important in an event selling itself as a "National Championship" or the "World Series".

If you want to truly crown a nationally recognized "Champion" you have to keep a somewhat level playing field for each entrant. The ability to "qualify" for a second or third entry still seems fair to me because you've earned those extra spots but beyond that I think things would lose the "fairness" perspective.

Kudos to the team at The Orleans for putting on a First Class event and for reaching out to ask the right questions.
