Well if you are talking about overall fastest as a racehorse, I'd say Secretariat hands down.

If you're talking about a sprinter, yeah I'd go with those, maybe Housebuster, but there is also horses who ran VERY fast 4 1/2- 5f races. I guess they'd be faster.

I never said it wasn't? That was a mile race. I just posted a fast 5f race time.
Thats like me saying Dr fagers mile? Secretariat ran 1 1/2 in 2:24!

If you're saying fastest horse, whats the criteria? What about the 4f record holders? Is a 1 1/2 race not in a "fast" category? That's all I was saying. I agree, Dr. Fagers mile was great! But wasn't Secretariats 1 1/2 Belmont the greatest show of constant pure speed? I think all these are fast anyway

That's whats scary or even how about if Dr. Fager didn't get weight packed on in that race. Scary times.

A horse called Twin Sparks went:

21.79 43.2 66.49 gate to wire going 6 furlongs at TUP.

How fast would these all time greats that you are talking about run on that surface?

Dr. Fager, Secretariat, and Ruffian immediately come to mind. I would also think that as a pure sprinter, Artax was about as fast as anything I have seen on the track.

I never saw many of the "all time greats," but of the horses I have seen live, the one that visually was the most impressive with regards to his speed (and across multiple distances I might add) was GhostZapper. I loved to watch him run.
