Evening Attire has passed

It was a joy to watch him run, circling the fields. Durkin's calls of his races were always amazing.

Rest in eternal peace, Attire.

I always got a kick out of the fact that he won the same race, the Queens County, at 3 and 9. How many horses have ever done that?

The best is how he started strolling out of the gate. Let those youngsters go and get out of his way! I got to meet him on the backstretch once and it was one of my best days ever. I was so in awe that I forgot to take a picture. Just kept unwrapping mints for him.

He was a warrior. Hard to believe he paid well north of $100 winning his first stakes race in the Discovery as a 3yo.

Very sorry to hear the news. I loved Evening Attire. He was just so unique.

I LOVED this old boy! I regretted not going down to Philadelphia Park for the 2008 Greenwood cup with Pat Kelly. Pat said Evening Attire really hated the hot weather (and it was brutally hot that day) and that he never runs his best in hot weather, HA!! He not only won the race, he broke the track record for a mile and a half, at 10 years old!! RIP old boy, thanks for all the great memories!

My favorite part is the starter remembering at the last second to get out of the gate before the start. That was a Win And Your In for the Breeders Cup!
