Actually, it's a shame. I remember the Meadowlands Thoroughbred meets to be of high quality.
Lots of graded stakes and overnights. Good mix of NJ outfits with NY guys shipping over and of courser many goof NJ riders mixed in with some top NY jockeys that didn't mind riding at night after days over in NY.

One of the hot topics for the 2015 22 day meet, getting Gural to lay down the dirt surface so the horses can run on both. Big issues thus far, paddock and winners circle are a tram ride away, no barns at the Big M so the cost to ship round trip from MP is $250.00!

Last minute cancellation: Meadowlands 10/25/14 - track conditions.
Don't know the details, but sounds like the boys refused to ride.

Meadowlands done for the year as the rains have cancelled racing 11/1. Too bad as I will be out there to watch the BC and was hoping to see some live racing as well.

Racing cancelled at Churchill Downs tomorrow ( Wednesday 11/19/2014). Good news is the weather is predicted to improve for the rest of the week.

Churchill Downs cancels Nov. 19
Citing a winter weather blast that sent temperatures into the teens and sub-zero wind-chills has prompted Churchill Downs to cancel its 10-race live program for Nov. 19.
As a result of the cold, the main track at Churchill is frozen and training over the surface was canceled the morning of Nov. 18. With temperatures forecast to climb only into the low 20s Tuesday and dip back into the teens Tuesday evening, track officials determined rack conditions would not improve significantly before racing Wednesday.
In a release, officials said temperatures are forecast to climb above freezing Wednesday afternoon and track maintenance crews will be working around the clock from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning to get the track in suitable condition for the racing program scheduled for Nov. 20.

That is the positive thing about poly track. Don't have to worry about the track freezing and thawing unevenly.

Nothing more dangerous than chunks of ice that can occur as a track thaws. Weird weather pattern for sure.

CD has cancelled all races. Why?
Equibase is showing CD has cancelled all racing today due to weather. weather.com shows 40 degrees and cloudy in Louisville. What's the real reason they are dark?

Probably because the track is frozen, and therefore unsafe to run on.
