MVR pick 6

I had been keeping an eye on the growing jackpot at Mahoning Valley, but apparently it had a mandatory payout day on March 29. I did not see a word on their website, any DRF news, or anything on twitter. I even got a DRF promotional mail for free PP's for Mahoning on 3/29 without the pick 6 being mentioned! Based on the 1.6m of handle, someone got the message, just not me. Where was this announced ahead of time?? This should be a case study in how not to promote your product.

I follow Mahoning somewhat religiously, and Matt Hook the track announcer made mention of it all week leading up to the 29th.
It carried over $@340,000 and distributed $1.6 million.
I too saw the free bonus PPs offered that day.
Unfortunately for me, I was unable to play the card that day, and missed out on one of the rare opportunities to score for big bucks - $7k - by picking six short to moderately priced horses.

very good score..but should have been epic...long story involving dq, taking on partners, and last minute revisions for surface (which did help..but should have more trusted my snap observation of the first two races)

my handicapping of the sequence was bang on..and then some..but improptu revisions of numerous pick 6 tickets not my strong-suit..and we were too bold in trying to crush it numerous times..

all that said...payoff on that sequece was beyond generous..

I predict April 17th (closing day) will be the last we'll see of the 20 cent Pick 6 bet at MVR. The 70% take-out and chalk fest Saturdays are a real turn-off. It paid $11.50 yesterday April 10th.
