Tampa finish line camera angle?

I've watched over 1700 races at Tampa and never been aware of any odd camera angles on the dirt track finish line. But there must be given the photo here went to the horse? Plus the camera team followed the after the race too.

Downloaded the replay and watched frame by frame, hard to see any point where the 5 looks to be in front even considering the angle. But the photo doesn't lie I guess, anyone see it?

The TV camera must be sited several feet to the left of the photo finish camera. In fact in the slow-mo you can see the reflection of the horses don't appear in the mirror until they are about a foot past the line.

I can't understand why I've never noticed this before. I wonder if the camera has always been like that or whether it has recently been moved?

EDIT - Thank You CJ!

//
Interested as well.

Won the R#4 with the ..., then turned away to an errand...

Saw that my Chick's Shadow won race 5 for a $69.00 Double, searched for the winning ticket, and assumed that there had been some sort of 'DQ'...

Didn't even consider it could have been a 'Photo' thing...

sure enough, - the chart shows no 'DQ', and claims that the won the race.

Really bad camera angle?

I saw it as well. Even the commentator said the 6 horse won the race.

If that is the photo.. that is pretty bad, bc there is no angle other than what you see. The only distortion is during the live race in which you may not get a direct angle to the wire.

But in this pic it should prove to be accurate..

The only angle that matters is the one where the lens and mirror meet.

They can put that line wherever they want like an etch a sketch. Looks like the 6 won watching the race

Except they don't "put it wherever they want"

The line is placed at the most forward point of the most forward nose in the picture. That exact image is the actual image of the "end" of the race.

It doesn't matter where they put it. It doesn't change the position of the horses in the picture.

The line simply helps you tell which horse's nose is IN FRONT.

The line is artificial...doesn't matter...it's not the finish line.

THE PHOTO ITSELF

IS

THE FINISH LINE

They can “place” it anywhere they want.
So you admit they place it....

Or the next post ....it’s not a line just an artificial guide ? And they can also put that line only as a guide wherever they want. Right ?

Why is it in speed skating and cross country skiing that they have such precise ways to determine the finish, while racing is in the dark ages ?
