Churchill Downs Racing Club #2

The CDRC #2 horse you could have bought 1/200 of for $500 (total cash outlay, expenses included), Dial Me is in the Adirondack Stakes today. Typical D Wayne Lukas stretch. Longest shot in the race but with DWL who knows?

I was wondering what Churchill Downs Racing Club meant. Glad to see it's not the nonsense they are using at Portland Meadows.

As far as the horse....though I wish the owners luck.....not today

Its the norm with Lukas. Put a 20/1 ML horse in a stakes race. And he wonders why he dont win races anymore.

Horse was eased to the finish. Not a good showing horse needs easier company.

Oxbow was eased in his start at Saratoga as a two year old

Came back the following year to win the Preakness

Nice analogy but Lukas time has come and gone.

My question is who in the world would value this horse at $100,000, even with training included. Looks like the CDRC is making out like a bandit.

They paid $8,500 for "Dial me", so I guess that $91,500 goes towards training & other expenses.

I've lost $500 in a matter of hours so many times. What's the difference on losing it to maybe get yourself into a picture in the winners circle. Most people have to pay much more for a chance at that. So is it far fetched to believe that they shot for the moon with this horse? Now 200 people can say they owned a horse that competed in a grade 2 race at the spa. At least that feels a lot better to say then I went all in with aces for $500, an idiot calls me with absolutely nothing, like 9-10 and pulls out the runner runner straight.

I used info from Brisnet PPs.
It says Fasig-Tipton 2015 $8,500.
It's a 2 year old, I forgot about private sales.

Anyway the Churchill Downs Racing Club is listed as a non-profit, so I think that the best the club could do is break even.
The're in it for just the thrill of owning a horse.

I'm sure many of the partners in this group are new to the game, and were just thrilled for the opportunity of competing at, and visiting Saratoga. I hope at the end of the day they came away thinking, if given the chance they would do it again.

The club is a not-for-profit.

True. It was $60k. I sprung for $500 for CDRC #1 but updates from CD include info on both horses, Dial Me and Warrior's Club. The $500 I "gifted" them was just for the Hell of it and to see how CD handles the thing. IMO they have done a good job initiating the unsophisticated into the ups and downs of ownership. They said from the beginning that there was almost a zero chance of making money on the deal. For locals there are a lot of perks like free admission to CD, paddock access, preferred seating, seminars with free food, etc..
