I am more fascinated as to why one murder rises to the top of the news cycle rather than another. Aren't the other 30-40k murders or missing people in this country just as important to solve? I heard the FBI has spent north of $3M on a domestic violence murder that normally would be handled by locals. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Gabby Petito is home and Laundrie is dead, but I have this nagging feeling that if Gabby had been 175 pounds and plain looking, she would still be laying in a ditch in Wyoming and none of us would be the wiser.

Most murders aren't interstate and the FBI always gets involved in those. There's not plenty of video with the victim and suspect together either, in most murder cases.

I wonder why it took so long, why didn't the person collecting the remains say the skull had a hole in it?
