News about hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin being used in combination actually came from doctors treating patients in the field who were seeing good enough results that they decided to set up a control group.
Once they saw preliminary results from their control data they decided to publish their work so that other doctors in the field might get better outcomes for their patients.
Here's a link to the pdf where they published their work.
https://www.mediterranee-infection.c...l_DOI_IJAA.pdf
From page 11 of the above linked to pdf:
Quote:
When comparing the effect of hydroxychloroquine treatment as a single drug and the effect of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination, the proportion of patients that had negative PCR results in nasopharyngeal samples was significantly different between the two groups at days 3-4-5 and 6 post-inclusion (Table 3). At day6 post-inclusion, 100% of patients treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination were virologicaly cured comparing with 57.1% in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine only, and 12.5% in the control group (p<0.001). These results are summarized in Figures 1 and 2.
|
and from page 13:
Quote:
Such results are promising and open the possibility of an international strategy to decision-makers to fight this emerging viral infection in real-time even if other strategies and research including vaccine development could be also effective, but only in the future. We therefore recommend that COVID-19 patients be treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin to cure their infection and to limit the transmission of the virus to other people in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the world.

Admittedly, it's a small sample.
Last night I read that a full on clinical trial is now in the works.
Imo, this is the first good news I've heard for those who need to be hospitalized.

Positive news like this will eventually get us out of this mess.
They will have to take some risks (shortcuts) with potential cures.

The man has has a very competent business partner, his wife. Together they will sort out what they will do. We can just give the space needed without distracting the guy. That is all I got.

Remember this virus has affected 0.004% of the US population.
And the death rate is dropping daily.

Except that after it gets warmer it will get colder.
Think 1918 can’t happen again?
I’m of the opinion that this will end later rather than sooner.

Today's trip to the supermarket ... no eggs, meat section wiped out, no toilet paper or paper products. Bread almost gone.
I may die of malnutrition but at least I won't need toilet paper.

Try a wholesale meat producer in your area, here in Los Angeles they are now selling high quality meats in bulk ($100 minimum) to the public due to the resteraunt slowdown. Not all have a minimum. Bought 10lbs of fresh ground chuck, 10lbs of chicken breast, 4lbs of thighs, and 6 15oz ribeyes vacuumed sealed for $180. This one also had ability to get eggs too.
Stores here out of most meats and if they do have a stock there is limit on what you can purchase.
