to bad to lose NBC
they were a lot of fun with Battaglia and Neumeyer. they were talking about favorite Belmonts, mine was CONQUISTADOR CIELO, son of MR PROSPECTOR, and real crooked legs. i had asked Woddy Stephens, like a fool, what are you doing going with that horse a week after he won the Met. Mile and now going a mile and a half? he answered me, "son, i don't put out no short horses". i was at Belmont, and the place was packed because it was pouring that day. after the race i went back to the Grand Central Hyatt with the train!

Met Mile race 9
Flightline may be a very good or even great racehorse, I have no idea. I've never seen him face adversity.
he's the fastest straight line runner entered in this race, and figures to get favorable pace.
maybe he'll miss the break?
maybe he'll inexplicably not fire, like Knicks Go did last year when he laid over the Met Mile field on paper and pace.
50%-70% or thereabouts chance that he wins today, and still isn't given an opportunity to prove that he's a true grade 1 racehorse.
We will see lots of Ooohs and Aaahs on social media if he has an easy win.
on paper; Speaker's Corners' only chance is winning the break in way that handicaps the early position of Flightline.

Well I respect his performance today. The negative scenario played out, and he was classy enough to hold it together. There wasn't much of a closing run from rivals, but a lot of that was just the speed of the performance by Flightline.
hats off good race

This is why graded stakes races should not be shorter than a mile. We shouldn't be rewarding connections for their horse simply winning the break.
