What do you hate to see in a horse?

What do hate to see in a horse? It would not necessarily cause you throw it out completely, but would be a big black mark against it. I know I hate a horse dropping in claiming price with a fast WO since their last race.

A choppy gallup during the post warmup. If I have two contenders that I consider close enough, I will go with the other.

Thumbs down A terrible thing to see

A single "washed out" (sweating profusely) horse on the track, ESPECIALLY on a cool day. An IMMEDIATE throwout for me, as they seldom perform well.......

Agree 100%. One time that came back to get me was with Bluegrass Cat. In the paddock at Keeneland before the Blue Grass, I think it was, he looked fantastic, then ran terrible. A month late at CD, he looked and acted completely the opposite, then managed to run second at 30-1...busted up my tri and supers

In their last race? Or in post parade?

Rachel Alexandra dumped Borel in the Woodward.

I kinda like those, depending on how they react when the rider let's them know he's going to remount. A horse has to be pretty quick to "drop" an experienced jock.

"Lugged in" or "drifted out" in the last race comments is a negative. Sometimes it's sign the horse was hurting on one side, and even if it's not, it's best to keep going straight. If I'm going to bet on a horse with these tendencies, I need some other serious positives.

A young horse that has proven to be a closing sprinter in limited starts and is today stretching out to two turns at very short odds... no wait, I love that, it makes the race an automatic play...

Any horse than has shown in any of his listed pp's that he has never been within a length or so of the lead at the 1/8 pole especially in a sprint race is a definite black mark against for me.
