on my way back from monmouth.

here is my take.

1. tellers taking forever to punch tickets. 10wp on 2. how hard is that to punch.

2. prices were fantastic. prolly a mistake that i got 16-1 on 2 horse in the 6th.

overall i was glad to have an option to lock in the price liked.

will be glad when i can write my own tickets on line.

Is that left column odds-to-1 or the actual payout?

So, if I understand correctly, the winner paid $7 for $1, or $14 for $2 with fixed odds, while paying ~4/1 on the tote.

Adding up the booking percents, that would make this a 114.5% race - which would be damn good.

By comparison, MTH Tote looks to be a 128-129% track.

But these are OPENING ODDS for the book and CLOSING ODDS for the tote.

Confused. Could not find an EQB chart MTH 1st race where #4 won the race. What day was this?

do the fixed odds stay the same (except for scratches) or are they adjusted as you get closer to the off time?

They change. You will often get a better price by betting early as the public often catches up. However, if you feel your pick is disguised from the public, you should bet late.

I switched earlier this year to a popular UK sportsbook and only wager on horse racing using fixed odds. There are so many advantages aside from the obvious, such as entries are decoupled, no minimum wager limit, and in the case of disqualification both the official winner and the horse which crossed wire first gets paid out, plus a best odds guarantee (UK/Ireland races only) meaning if closing odds are higher at post time than your fixed odds you get paid the higher of the two.

I am actually in the black for the first time in a very long time.

Cheers.

they changed like crazy, my 16 in the 6th race on saturday on #2 10 MTP (17) became 8 SP (9)

it was 14, 17, 14, basically no one was betting the 2 until late.

I am sorry, but I do not understand what you said.

Could you explain again?
It seems you wanted to bet #2 but confused by:

Maybe 16 was opening odds?
at 10 mtp was 17?
at 8 mtp was 9?

Confused by "8 SP (9)"

What's SP?

sp equals starting prices.

and betmakers are confusing to the regular bettor

the sp on the 2 was 8-1 which is decimal wagering 9.

the bookies in the UK give out the fractional prices.

Monmouth (betmakers) is using decimals for fixed odds wagering.

which is easy to understand if you bet the exchange but near impossible to explain to the average America bettor.

1.95 is odds on. huh?

i wonder if they were taking fixed odds on Presque Isle today, only because i had the winner in the last race and i would have loved to kiss someone with that.
