Monmouth targets the weekend crowds....

They race FRI SAT SUN...their Fridays 6 Race Card is a joke...

So all the stables that are there have to race either SAT or SUN
making for , so called, nice big fields...
So with all that , handle and crowds are still down...

The sad thing is that I doubt they'll eat crow and reverse the use of no-whips for the future....unless they are smart

Yet there are people here that think the State of New Jersey gives a shit about Horse Racing. I have long said that when People or Organizations of People give a shit about someone or something...they NEVER let them/it get in such a sorry shape.

In brief:

MSW and Alw +20%
Clm > $12k +10%
Clm < $12k + 5%
Open stakes for $75k now for $100k

In essence MSW will run for $55k and NW1x for about $60k (a little less on turf).

Nownownow stakes for 2YO going long on turf now $500k frorm $150k.

All courtesy of additional $2.5 million supplement + purses underpaid for 1st half of meet and, per Drazin "business has been good."

nice country we have here, handle down and purses up! you are going to have to spend at least $100, 000 as a yearling to win one of those MSW purses as well. not a great sign for one of the few fan-based tracks remaining.

By my count total handle is $53.1M (184 races/$289k per race) 2021 v $69.2M (213 races/$325k per race). Per race decline about 11%. I didn't get into field size or other variables like weather. The one item I did note was that 2019 included two decent stakes days- one on Memorial Day Saturday (total handle $5.9M) and U.N. Day (4th Sat in June total handle $5.7M)- and 2021 has had some stakes but not in a grouping like 2019. Total purses on those days combined in 2019 was about $1.8M v comparable 2021 dates of about $1M.

Also forgot to note- they also added Fridays in September

It's a shocker!

Hearing today for jockey Mejia for a rather incriminating photo. Maybe just a USB drive handy for storing all those winner's circle pics?

What’s wrong? It’s not a whip.

Looks like YTD handle per race is flat to 2019, and per betting interest down about 5%.

Would be much more interested to look at what the on track handle is since coolergate with it being such a higher margin. I do not feel like adding up Equibase charts at the moment

I remember discussions years ago where people were saying stuff like this hardly ever happens...especially at the major tracks...LOL

People are so gullible.

Some of the biggest names in the game have been documented discussing using buzzers (like LUKAS and STEVENS).

https://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/28/s...se-racing.html

Then there is the infamous "handshake" video from the 1995 Kentucky Derby (coincidence that the connections were LUKAS & STEVENS?)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archi...-3e58861696a4/

Point being...stop being gullible.

I am sure the usual "supporters" will be along very shortly to let the two of us know how wrong we are to think like this.

The very same same people who think EVERYBODY should do something for "the common good" are the first to shit all over "the common good" when it comes to supporting people like some of these Jockeys and Trainers.

Yep...I said it.
