This is only a half truth best stated in this one verse:
1 Cor 15:22
22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
NIV
Christians have the brightest of futures. Brighter than bright. Incomprehensibly bright. However, there is no future for those who die in Adam.

Boxcar...I don't believe those who promise me earthly things. Do you expect me to believe those who promise me HEAVENLY things? "We've been conned again"...you say in your thread title here. And, IMO...religion is just another "con".

God didn't con the world when he promised that he would raise Jesus from the dead; so why would He con his sons and daughters that he will raise them from the dead?
The verse I quoted is in the context of the central resurrection chapter of all scripture.

Nothing that we've gotten from God could be considered "first-hand knowledge". Everything has been filtered through man...and his human failings. God isn't the "con man". MAN is.

Then with all man's "human failings" (with which I do not disagree), one would think that scripture would be replete with manifestations of those failings via contradictions, given that we have 66 books written by over 40 writers; yet, there aren't any. Copyist errors pertaining to names or numbers have no impact on any matters pertaining to orthodoxy or orthopraxy. The only way to account for such impeccable integrity is divine inspiration and divine preservation of the ancient manuscripts.

Not true. This "impeccable integrity" could easily be attributed to the editting that was done by the bible-compiling committe. Let's not forget that there were many gospels which were excluded from the bible, because they were deemed "heretical". Edit out all the "contradictions"...and you are left with "impeccable integrity".

There was no editing. There are still numerous extant manuscripts in various museums around the world that attest to the validity of the ancient origin of the bible. No such "bible-compiling committee ever existed. Do your homework and see how the canon originated.

Yes, of course, numerous religious writings co-existed with the divinely inspired scriptures. But the fakes (man-created) were flushed out according to the rules of the canon.
But even so....the bible consists of 66 books written over a period of 1,500 years by 40+ writers and, notwithstanding remarkably few minor copyists' errors, there is not one single contradiction in orthodoxy or orthopraxy.

It's sure beginning to look like that, as ADE and/or VEI seem to be rearing their ugly head(s).
The good news is that many will then find out the answer of those pesky open-ended issues in the religion threads from Boxcar, Thask and others. Now, if we could just get them to post their experiences from beyond the grave....
