Caulfield Cup - Gr1
If you like to bet the Melbourne Cup (1st Tuesday in Nov) this race is a must watch.
One of the biggest races on the Australian calendar also acts a prep for the Melbourne Cup. The top two finishers from the 2022 MC are running tonight at Caulfield. The race carries a $5million purse.
Joseph O'Brien is shipping in two runners from Ireland.
Stay up late or set the DVR - post time is 2:15am Eastern time.

looks like races 7 thru 9 including the Cup are going to be part of the World Pool so you're be betting with the HKJC money so the pools will be large.

some jockeys will probably be hauled into the stewards room led by Dean Yendall for being almost 4 seconds under standard at the halfway mark. All credit to the and while the pace setup for , the weight was probably just too much, wonder how they'll look for the race that stops a nation in just over a week.

I wish I could get splits/sectionals for this race.
Looks like #11 Right You Are and #16 Bois D'Argent ran good races after being close to that pace, with the latter having a little traffic trouble in the lane. I'll look closely at those two if they appear in the field for the Melbourne Cup.
Top three finishers were well back early, esp the runner up, and came pretty wide off the far turn.
Nest week: the Cox Plate

you can find free sectionals for Aus racing in a few spots -
1. the race clubs (for NSW, so that's Randwick and Rosehill) will provide.
example provided in link
https://racing.australianturfclub.com.au/meeting/4347
2. www.racingandsports.com.au, in the results section, usually publish Saturday and Midweek sectionals for all Sydney and Melbourne metro racing
3. www.racing.com, also in results section
4. puntingform.com.au which will do for everything, but is a paid for service.
hopefully that helps a little.
Cox Plate this weekend looks a decent field.

Right You Are, still in melbourne cup and well up ballot so should get a run provided he stays sound
Bois D'Argent, not in noms for melbourne cup, so doubt he goes

good luck, it's a great day, cox plate my favourite race of the year -
Race 5 - Prowess, she's really good, 2nd race back from a break, best horse in the race but might lack fitness edge on Antino and Tuvulu
Race 7 - Sunsource at odds can run well
Race 9 - If Romantic Warrior has improved from his Turnbull run he is going to be hard to hold out. I really like horses who back up from Caul Cup into Cox Plate a week later, so expect Gold Trip to run well, especially if the 3yos with no weight put on a bit of speed for him to run on.

I think Gold Trip will be against the pattern considering the speed doesn't look like it'll be on and the nature of the MV track means he'll be Makybe Diva wide giving up a lot to Romantic Warrior and Mr Brightside who should be close to the front and rails. Also will be keeping Fangirl in my tickets

I'm a novice when to comes to Aussie racing, with the Melbourne Cup being the only race I spend a lot of time handicapping...I'll take a small shot on #8 Fangirl off a huge win.
Hoping she can get the extra distance.

The race that stops a nation is coming up this Monday 11pm central. This race got some excellent tv coverage last year. I think it might have been on Fox, but I can't recall. And im hoping it gets some good tv coverage this year.

I think it's 11 PM EASTERN time.
The race goes off at 3 PM local time (1500 hours). Melbourne is on daylight savings time and is UTC+11, while EST is UTC-5, so there's a 16 hour difference. Thus 2300 hours (11 PM) Eastern time.

Ok, thank you
I just checked my tv listing. Its on from 8:30 to 1030 cst
In my area it is on Fox 2. Should be well worth tuning into
I'll check drf for free pps. They often have them for major overseas races.
