All in all it was a very good night.
Ohio made abortion a constitutional right by 56.1% to 43.9%
In Kentucky Democratic Governor Steve Beshear beat Trump backed Republican 52% to 47%
In Virginia Democrats retained control of the Senate and flipped the House. Thereby thwarting Governor Youngkin plan to impose a fifteen weeks abortion ban. And severely derailing his presidential ambitions.

Working as the SC intended.
And you mean STATE CONSTITUTION of Ohio...right? LMAO
Couldn't be happier. This is exactly as it is supposed to be.
Very unlike the massively UNCONSTITUTIONAL way it was before.
I'm very glad you and I can both be happy about this.

Denial is an ignorant response.
It's always important to recognize the prevailing culture of, not only America, but the world in total.
People vote their desires. It may or may not not mirror the original intent of our Founding Fathers, but it's what people desire at this moment.
My view is that much of what passes today is a way to circumvent the intent of those FF. We may look back on the US in a few centuries and appreciate that though we are grateful for the opportunity presented, it turned out very different. The important thing is that the attempt was made.
People want their reps to spend more than they have. People want to get high. People want to live lives tuned only to convenience. The human condition may be what determines the fate of the US and the world. People have lived for millions of years and still haven't gotten it right. There's no reason to believe that this point in history will be different.
And so I salute our FF and their Constitution that failed to change the course of history because the human condition will not accommodate real change.

The "right" keeps getting played on the abortion issue . . . if the "left" wants to abort their progeny, get out of the way and let them . . . it's really pretty simple, you don't like abortion rights, fine, don't avail yourself . . . your enemy likes abortion rights, fine, let them have at it . . . play the long game, why interfere when your enemy is destroying itself???

There is a big ;esson to be learned here, and apparently, the GOP still doesn't get it.
They are not in touch with voters.
They ae not playing the same game the dems are in terms of elections.
They do not have a ckherent mesage.
And they will never win if they keep using rigged elections as a crutch.
They need to get prople out to vote, not tell them it is a lost cause.
Act like a loser and you are a loser.
Biden woll not be the candidate, and the minute he drops out,
the ertirw GOP strategy (?) is out the window.

I actually agree with you about getting out the vote.
When do you see Trump screaming at people to get out and vote?
Never...all he talks about is the election was stolen.
Welp, that's not gonna get people motivated to go out and vote, now is it?
That's one of Trump's major problems (among many in this flawed candidate).
It's harder to rig an election when you have tons of people actually voting against your rigging.
But make no mistake...elections are definitely rigged in the USA...and have been like, WAY BEFORE Trump ever came along.

Regardless of what you think about abortion, slightly more than 50% of the US population is pro choice and certainly well over 50% of women are pro choice - often passionately.
IMO, the defeat of Roe vs Wade correctly put such a divisive issue in the hands pf the states where it belongs. However, at the state level, there are many states where this issue is a gigantic loser for republicans if the regulations are even mildly tough and it becomes the major issue.
Pro life people should happy Roe vs Wade was overturned, continue trying to win hearts and minds with logic, reason, and medical data, accept minor popular regulations and STFU or they are going go keep blowing elections coast to coast.

I actually don't think it's that big a deal anymore...it's fallen out of the spotlight...people have finally realized the SC ruling was not the END OF ABORTION in the USA...
I'm sure Democrats will ramp it up as the election draws closer, but people aren't as stupid as Dems think they are...that's why Trump is polling better in the swing states with "higher diversity" compared to the whitest of swing states where Biden is still ahead (slightly).
White people are the dumbest of the racial groups...actually...

I think now that abortion is THE issue.
It was the breakwater for the red wave that never happened.
It is the issue repubs have totally dropped the ball on, have tripped over themselves since Roe v Wade was overturned.
Many GOP abortion bills statelevel have no provisions for rape, incest, even medical emergency.
People do not accept bans. It is the left's 2nd ammendment equivalence.
And don't think repub women aren't upset.
It brings out the vote, and the pro-abortion movement is well funded and well oorganized.
The idiot GOP can't even win the House and elect a speaker.

Comment beneath one of today's many articles about yesterday's election results:
"As long as Ronna McDaniel (Mitt Romney's niece) is in charge of the Republican Party we'll keep losing elections."
Have to think whoever wrote that is right.
It's like I said in one of the earlier election threads:
"The R's have no Ground Game. (The Mail-in Ballot Ground Game.)"

As of September there were 516 corporate bankruptcy filings this year. Somewhere in the past I heard "It's the economy stupid". inflation is kicking many asses. Free stuff for migrants. I didn't hear many candidates talking about these issues. Billions to Ukraine for weapons and propping up their economy while ours is going to shit. Homeless encampments everywhere.
But hey, the right to kill a fetus as a form of birth control is more important, right?
