Las Vegas DownTown
Just got back from Las Vegas . Stayed down town at "The D" SEMA was in town and pretty crowed. The Freak show was in full force downtown but the point I want to make is that very few sports book took wagers on Horse racing. Golden Nugget was where I played.

I wonder how much online and betting via cell phones took out. No need to go to a casino to do it when theres much more convenient ways to bet on the ponies these days. This is probably why Vegas was against sports betting too, soon gaming sites will take a piece of their action.

Also, slot machines are by far the most profitable use of floor space in casinos, and downtown properties have smaller gaming floors.
They've removed a lot of poker too, for much the same reasons.

I doubt it has much to do with online betting and cell phone betting. Getting pps on a phone is horrible and watching races on a phone is not fun. Its what was mentioned, its a waste of casino space for a dying sport that gets little action.

Off the Strip, the Red Rock 15 minutes west of the Strip is a nice place to watch and bet on horses.
If not in a sportsbook, you could probably get away with using your usual ADW on your laptop too in other places (even though it's technically not allowed).

Downtown does not have any good options for racebooks. The Strip(Mirage, Wynn, Bellagio, Ballys) or South Point are your best options for racebooks. Big screens, individual carrels, and a $10-20 bet will get you drink tix.

Union Plaza? It hasn't been called that since 2005. Now it's just the "Plaza."
And as far as I know, they have a race and sportsbook.
