The union has been trying to bargain for months regarding the new contract. I don't know the inside story of what the hold ups are but as far as Del Mar goes they did know about it. Del Mar and their management team have always been the absolute best group of folks in racing to deal with. I can tell you that if all the tracks had management like they have there, we would never have an issue with labor.

Of course they knew the contract was up but that didn't mean the union would announce a strike publicly.
And yes, they are a great group of people running the track at Del Mar.

You have to give Del Mar credit, 10 minutes after the race on Youtube I can watch HD replays of the race...with TVG I get standard replays a day later...awesome.

She is very good - has a natural "fit in" personality.
She should have a good future. Already sounds better than a lot of professionals out there.
And now, the BIG question of the day.
Race #7.....will Brill "creme" 'em?

Poor start, looked a little dicey at one point but rolled late. Should have a future.

There's a horse in the finale (named after dear departed PA poster Robert Goren?) $1.1 million semolinas. Nada in dirt debut but has a big Tomlibson. Anyone have some scuttlebut on this one?

The time was very fast compared to the rest of the dirt races.

She's better than good. She got a contract with NBC. Nice person, attractive, and asks good questions. Allstar IMO
