I swear to God that sheriff looks like Marky Mark Wahlberg in about another 15 or so years...lol
And yeah, I thought this guy was out the door a long time ago.

Sherriff's an elected position in Florida, only the governor can suspend him.Then-governor Rick Scott was running for Senator, he probably didn't want to take the time to have to deal with it.

Parkland school cop faces 11 charges
Scot Peterson, observed hiding from confrontation during the massacre,
could now spend the rest of his life in prison.

Sad to say this cop probably won’t do one day in jail. The courts have consistently ruled that failure to respond is not a crime.
If he were in the military he could/should have been court-martialed and shot.

The coward should be made to pay back the county all they paid him over the years. If he can't...tattoo "coward" on his forehead and throw him in with the general population in prison.

Someone is shooting high school kids and I have a gun, well I wont be sitting around waiting for backup. going in, id the perp and have a firefight with him.
I am trained, he is not. Odds are huge in my favor.

Yep, but there are some recent lower court decisions on “a call to duty” which might hurt him. But they are no where near the gravity of most other decisions

It's the Sheriff that should take the blame. My guess is that the deputy was a 'Barney' and was assigned to the school to keep him away from trouble.

No - h was well trained and had years of experience protecting schools. This guy does hard time. They need to send a message.

That doesn’t rule out Dave’s scenario. It could be both. I knew lots of cops with training certificates galore that I wouldn’t let stand behind me with an unholstered weapon.

Children getting shot in their school...and the armed and trained cop is hiding outside for 48 minutes while the slaughter goes on. And then he instructs the oncoming cops to stay at least 500 feet away from the school.
I say lock him in a room with the families of the victims...so they could have a "conversation".
