Pope Francis says death penalty inadmissible
Not sure if this should have its own topic or being in religion. Feel free to move it.
Pope Francis has changed the Catholic Church's position on the death penalty, declaring it inadmissible in all cases.

Quote:
VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis has changed church teaching about the death penalty, saying in a new policy published Thursday that it is always "inadmissible" because it "attacks" the inherent dignity of all humans.
...
...Francis said the death penalty violates the Gospel and amounts to the voluntary killing of a human life, which "is always sacred in the eyes of the creator."

When more death-row inmates die of old age than are executed...are we accurate in saying that we have a "death penalty" in effect?

Wrong direction
We need to start executing pedophile priests.
Put the fear of God in ‘em.

Catholic Church opposes abortion and the death penalty based on the same premise that life is sacred.

But one kind of life is totally innocent; the other not so much.
The pope issues this decree or whatever it is out of his ignorance of the scriptures. But I'm sure it made him feel good. And that's extremely important to liberals in all circles of life.

Then Catholics should no longer admit it into their church.
It's a moot point anyway. I don't think the Vatican has killed any heretics in quite some time.

I think the Vatican's proclamation was targeted to the entire political world for its consumption.

Then it is way out of line. Jesus said render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's.

Between pedo priests and the helping of nazis in WWII, the Catholic Church is The LAST place I look for any morality.
And I say that as a Catholic.
I did not choose that - I was not aware - I thought it was another bath.
Pope needs to open up the Vatican treasure chests and start doing some real good in the world - like spending that money and living like Jesus did.
Credibility is NOT assumed to anyone.
God knows how to punish murderers - we will just expedite them to Him.

The "original sin" kicks in when the newborn pops out.

This is the first time I agree with this Pope about anything. I must be wrong.
