yea, hoping it's not 'trainer speak' to cover an ailment...

His explanation most likely is just being candid. You have to go 9F in the Remsen. He mentions a deep track (I honestly haven't followed it lately, so I'll take his word). You have to gamble some on the weather lately(haven't checked the forecast for this race specifically).

The Remsen is not currently a champion-marker race. It's a cool race for late developing NY/Mid-Atlantic 2yos who really want more distance to take a shot vs. some quicker stretch-out speed.

Can certainly see the logic to develop in Florida and aim for those preps.

3 of the last 5 Remsen winners were subsequent Grade 1 winners Catholic Boy, Mo Town, and Honor Code. The latter was Champion Older Male in 2015.

Also in those editions of the Remsen were Keen Ice (Travers), Frosted (Met Mile), Wicked Strong (Wood Memorial), and the ill-fated Takaful (Vosburgh).
