Off Strip Vegas Casino's

I'm planning a Vegas trip early Jan I usually stay downtown on Fremont St, but I've been checking out off strip casinos Anybody have any experience with Sam's Town or Boulder Station I'm leaning towards Sam's Town
Thanks in advance

It's 6 or 7 miles from the strip if that's alright with you.

I lived there twenty years ago and go back occasionally. They are both fine, boulder was a new casino back then, it has a movie theater. Sams town was mighty fine too, the race book was great, some handicapper who I forget his name used to hang out there and was approachable. There's a bowling alley there too. I would probably recommend ST because you can easily take a bus or shuttle to the strip on flaming road.

I used to live in So Cal, I rarely went to Vegas I went mostly to Laughlin. For my level of play I got treated like a king in Laughlin, never paid for a room usually getting a nice two room suite with a comped bar, steak and lobster dinners, etc, etc. I got treated well at Stateline also. In Vegas for the same play I was lucky to get a free drink in the Sportsbook. The only benefit to Vegas in my opinion was the scenery, but I went to gamble not to check out 20 something girls, the Laughlin crowd was much older.

Between the 2, I would choose Sams Town. As far as Station Casinos, I'm partial to Sunset Station, mainly because I live closer to it. For those staying there, they have multiple restaurants of all kinds, Italian, Steak, Mexican etc etc. Bowling, movies, large Race&Sports book. Right out front, there are even more dining options like Chipotle/Pizza Rev, Coldstone etc. Across the street is Galleria Mall, plus if you need something else, Target, WalMart, Barnes&Nobles plus tons other stuff is walking distance. rates are usually decent from what I understand.
If you are into beer, World of Beers is at the Galleria Mall, plus there are a couple Craft Breweries about a mile away..Bad Beat Brewing and CraftHaus.

I'm partial to the South Point.

As far as the Station Casinos go, I stayed at Red Rock some years ago and LOVED it. I also love the neighborhood too.

I have not been to LV for many years, but stayed at Sam's several times and it was just fine. At least back then, it was easy to find good deals on rental cars, especially in the off season. Generally just avoid the bigs like Hertz and Avis. You might look into that, as Sam's is fairly isolated. And you have the $24 from the shuttle to go against the car rental.

I always like to go down to Fremont St. once during a visit, and also hit the strip. For me, no trip to LV is complete without a stop at the Gamblers Book Club. It's a personal choice, but I never considered being in LV without a car.

The Orleans is the place to stay if you're a horseplayer. They cater the horseplayers.
