"Robert Goren" has died

As many regular posters here know, Robert's health had been poor for quite some time, and he hadn't posted here much in the last few months as his health declined and he moved around to various nursing home facilities.

Of course "Robert Goren" was only a forum name (taken from Det. Robert Goren of Law & Order). His real name was Perry Tunks of Lincoln NE, and I was saddened to find his death notice in the Lincoln newspaper.. he died on July 2. He was 68 years old.

It doesn't appear that a full obituary was ever printed.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Tunks..

That's sad to hear.
"The Detective" was a man who always gave us his honest opinion whether we agreed with him or not.
He was an enjoyable poster to read on this site.

Lord rest your soul Perry - so sad to hear of your passing.
Nothing's for sure these days y'all, tell those close to you how much they mean, while you still can.

I'm really sorry to learn this. Robert was a great contributor to Pace Advantage for many years. And he seemed to be a fine, fine man. As has been said, no more pain...

Rest in peace, Robert. To me you'll always be, Robert, your online identity. <3

Very saddened to hear this.

I enjoyed "bickering" with Bobby a lot - he was always a good sport and never held a grudge over disagreements.

I had a lot of respect for him and miss our back and forths.
He loved horse racing and you have to respect that.

RIP my friend......prayers for you and your family.

(Thanks, Dan, for letting us all know)

Sometimes amid all the debates, arguments etc... you forget that these forum relationships matter too. Sad when we lose one of our own.

RIP Robert/Perry.

Gotta say I been worried that this was the case, but every time I worried he'd reappear and make a splash for at least a few days.

Detective Goren was always one of my favorites. He could be a total pain in the ass at times, but never with any sort of malice. He argued like a pro, defending his positions but never getting upset when someone got surly with him or made it personal. He wasn't a stereotype, but a guy who knew what he believed and didn't go about changing his mind because it was part of the 'team creed'.

Bad enough missing having him around. But now I can't even hope that it's just temporary again.
