Interesting...so far on the trail

horses doing the best are on the lead or right there...nothing from the midpack or back...

today...3/7/20...all 3 fit that profile....last week...same thing...

as of now...am going to be looking for something with some finish...that's for sure...that is derby day....

I've noticed this somewhat...

I'll be looking at anything and everything though going forward. I think it's highly probable that several of the horse that went gate to wire or have relied more on speed will not get that trip in their next race. Some of it may be a function of the overall quality of the fields, i.e. it wasn't really a shocker to see Ete Indien gate to wire in the FoY, given the depth (or lack of) and some of the feelings about the favorite coming onto the race.

Incidentally, King Guillermo is likely going straight to the Derby, so we won;'t be able to get much additional form on him.

I don't think it's really necessary.

You're probably right as this appears to be a pace dependent horse but Equibase did give that Tampa renewal the second biggest figure (110) since Street Sense pulled a 112 and the third biggest figure since they started keeping score in 1991. The final 2.5 panels in 30.63 (which would translate to about a very strong ~37 second final 3/8th if no deceleration) is solid. For those who ascribe to Stanley Caris metrics, the horse is a Buckpasser-x and has the strong tail female Affection.

I have him covered in the All Others future pool exacta boxes and will leave it at that. Feels like an Oxbow type of horse that will finish sixth in Derby then over-perform in the Preakness.
