Wow. The name brings up memories about his father. I wrote an article about dick sr. Back in the sixties. Thought I could make it as a writer. I submitted it to one of the popular racing magazines of the times. They rejected it. I think I will find it and post on pa. Never to be denied

But when you give a big FU to the industry and more importantly the betting public with statements like that. It's NEVER going to get overlooked.

I'm in complete agreement about 2nd chances.

Many trainers have done far less and been welcomed back in much shorter time.

Being stupid shouldn't come with a life sentence. If it did I would have been put in maximum security long ago.
Agreed, the penalty and the throwing the book at him is probably directly correlated to what you posted . If you’re blatantly honest and reveal things that openly , Chances are you will be thrown under the bus . I mean , they’re probably a lot of people not happy about his very public statements. Most of these trainers understand “lawyer speak” and it keeps them afloat even in times of trouble . He opened the barn door for all the world to see and the knives came out . I don’t want to say much or have an opinion because I really don’t know how this was adjudicated. Was 10 years just some random number they threw against the wall? To see if sht sticks? Or was there a formal sentence of transgression? I don’t even remember it was so long ago . But how many other trainers have people seen get time like this ? One really has to wonder about that entire deal. But you all know damn well …….. he pissed some people off. Bottom line .

Huge believer in 2nd chances. Rick has more than paid his price, and I'm whole-heartedly rooting for him.

We can talk all day about other trainers and cheaters in the sport. Rick has paid a dire price, and I wish him the best.

If he sniffs anything regarding cheating or shenanigans.., well, off to the kill pen you go.

That's not the only way you can pay your debt to society. Mike Tyson did prison time for rape. Did that recompense all the harm he caused? Not in any way. But when someone complies with the legally required sentence and then reenters society, that person should get a second chance.

Dutrow was exiled from the sport he loves and grew up in for 10 years. That's a significant punishment, and it is fair to say he paid his debt to racing. He deserves this second chance.

Well he sure didn't let his love of the game stop hin.

Maybe he loves other stuff more.

I guess the integrity of racing is more negotiable than I find acceptable.

Winning off the claim was the ultimate troll to rile up his haters.

Wife-unit was wondering about his suspension watching today's race, and I couldn't give a really concise answer, but I searched and found this thread to let her read....good job, folks, with input from Vic and Andy and others.

Good for him. Racing and redemption go back to Seabiscuit, if not farther.
