The despicable part is you are using hindsight to make your allegations. Nobody truly new what this virus would turn into. Monday morning quarterbacking is a bullshit way to criticize.
Trump's biggest mistake was falling for the bullshit line (which the goalposts continually moved) coming from Fauci et al
He even spoke about the Swedish model. He spoke of leaving the entire thing up to state governments. But never pulled the trigger.
The Government departments are in the business of Enhancing their budgets and trying to look like saviors. They all think they are saving the world. They were making it worse every day.
New York and California got what they deserved. Their governments are still screwing things up.

When did he know it and what did he know?
Fitting, that Bob Woodward un-covered the only president worse than Richard Nixon. It is obvious Trump needed to maintain a lead over Biden on the economy. He constantly pushed states to re-open up without proper mitigation measures. And without a coordinated national plan. The evidence is overwhelming.

So well into the pandemic he continued to downplay the dangers still at times calling it a hoax perpetrated by his enemies and other times lying about how well he was doing "controlling it with therapeutics like injecting Clorox and hydroxychloroquine, while scoffing at wearing masks and social distancing. He knew the potential of the threat and admitted he downplayed it.

The U.S. could have prevented roughly 36,000 deaths from COVID-19 if broad social distancing measures had been put in place just one week earlier in March, according to an analysis from Columbia University.
And if restrictions had gone into effect in the U.S. two weeks earlier, researchers found, nearly 54,000 people would still be alive and nearly a million COVID-19 cases would have been avoided.

Could Trump Be Charged With Manslaughter Over COVID-19?
https://www.thedailybeast.com/could-...ter-over-covid
Donald Trump has handled the pandemic arguably worse than any world leader and has lied about it serially. No one can dispute that. The question though is, can Trump be criminally charged with manslaughter for intentionally failing to warn Americans about the known threats of COVID-19—and worse, lying about them? As a lawyer, I believe the answer should be yes—at least if it can be proven that Trump knowingly misled Americans about the dangers of COVID-19 because he believed it helped his re-election efforts, and Americans relied on those lies to the detriment of their health/lives.
.................................................. ....
We now know conclusively it can be proven thanks to his own words on tape. On the record.

That's just simply NOT true.
"In a January 28 top secret intelligence briefing, national security adviser Robert O'Brien gave Trump a "jarring" warning about the virus, telling the President it would be the "biggest national security threat" of his presidency. Trump's head "popped up," Woodward writes.
O'Brien's deputy, Matt Pottinger, concurred, telling Trump it could be as bad as the influenza pandemic of 1918, which killed an estimated 50 million people worldwide, including 675,000 Americans. Pottinger warned Trump that asymptomatic spread was occurring in China: He had been told 50% of those infected showed no symptoms.
At that time, there were fewer than a dozen reported coronavirus cases in the US."
And there's this as well -
" A top White House adviser starkly warned Trump administration officials in late January that the coronavirus crisis could cost the United States trillions of dollars and put millions of Americans at risk of illness or death.
The warning, written in a memo by Peter Navarro, President Trump’s trade adviser, is the highest-level alert known to have circulated inside the West Wing as the administration was taking its first substantive steps to confront a crisis that had already consumed China’s leaders and would go on to upend life in Europe and the United States.
“The lack of immune protection or an existing cure or vaccine would leave Americans defenseless in the case of a full-blown coronavirus outbreak on U.S. soil,” Mr. Navarro’s memo said. “This lack of protection elevates the risk of the coronavirus evolving into a full-blown pandemic, imperiling the lives of millions of Americans.”
---
Let's just stop the BS alternative facts that "nobody truly knew!" Hogwash, give me a break.

The "best" part about that was that Trump said he didn't remember his national security advisor saying this but he's sure the advisor said it. What other large national security threats is our president not remembering...

With the highest unemployment due to the RINO Governors ordered shutdowns, it gave us the 3rd highest per capita infections rate. Early on, the governor ordered the dumping of symptomatic covid patients into nursing homes resulting in an overwhelming majority of the states deaths coming from these same homes.
Now I don't know if the Governor should be tried for manslaughter or if he should be the target of lawsuits, but it certainly wasn't Trumps fault. It was the RINO doing the dumping.

Yeah, if the POTUS can't remember national security threats, that'd be legit cause for panic. It's probably also worth panicking over the fact that he quite literally can't do any wrong in the eyes of you and your far right followers here. Pretty sure that's how despots come to power..
