Closers on the Turf

Looks like the rain softened up the Turf Course at Saratoga...finally
the closers have a chance again!

closers have a dominant chance each and every turf race in the East

What does this have to do with what the original post is saying?

Performances can vary due to the moisture content in turf surface. In other words. horses have a surface condition preference.

So moisture does matter.

Turf conditions remain constant irrespective of moisture.

Another good one. Thanks.

There have been 24% wire to wire winners in Monmouth turf routes so far at the current meet with just 13% in 8.5F dirt routes.

I love the constancy of minutia brought in with true subjectivity....As if the horse had a say in it....Remarkable

By your logic (although to date little has been shown) there is no such thing as a track variant. Heck, the horses don't know.

Never let facts get in the way of a good argument.

I believe the topic of this thread has to do with the fact that there has been an unusually high number of winners on the Saratoga turf this meet going wire to wire and that the track bias just might see some change in that trend due to the recent rain and the fact that it has been very dry so far this meet.

Andy Serling pointed out today on Talkin Horses that in the previous two weeks sans rain, some ridiculous figure like 12 of 14 winners of Saratoga inner turf course winners were always something like first or second at each call.

With that figure swirling in my head, I'd have to say that moisture on the Spa inner certainly does matter.

I thought the turf courses at the Spa played very fair today, with the turf listed as Good.
