Mark this Day! Cincinnati is in 1st place
25 percent of the way through the season, Cincy is in first place over the Cardinals. How long can it last ? Who Knows? But I get to celebrate for a day or so...........

I thought this thread was going to be about the Bengals joining the Arena League.

I thought that Joe Morgan's old number had been retired.

Pitching and Defense; it ain't sexy, but it's been working recently. I'm cautiously optimistic.

It's the NL. Even Philly doesn't stand out yet amongst this mediocrity. Don't think any team will gain separation there

since Drew Stubbs is playing there, I've been watching most their games on mlb extra innings. They play an excellent brand of ball. So far a lot of good pitching and D, with some power from Votto and Gomes & clutch hitting.
Not sure if they can keep it up for 6 months, but it's fun to watch. The Rangers are in the same boat. Playing well now, just waiting for that bullpen to cave in.

Half way home
I am pleasantly surprised the boys are still in 1st place..........here is an article about them as we start the 2nd half............
Charlie Finley was mentioned in another thread the other day.......his discovery, M.C. Hammer is in Cincy for the Celebration.......''can't touch this" was the theme song of the Reds in 1990 when they went wire to wire to win the World Series under Lou Pinella..............who says baseball teams aren't superstitious?

CINCINNATI – Jay Bruce singled off Trevor Hoffman with two outs in the 10th inning Monday night, rallying the i Reds to a 5-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers that extended their NL Central lead to a season-high six games.

Anybody in sports betting that sends out flyers touting that they picked the Reds and Rangers to win their divisions is a liar!
