45+ minutes between races? CDX is killing me
What the hell? Will they ever learn?

Learm what? Ever looked at the handle on Derby Day?
Heck, ever ATTENDED a big race card at CD? Hint: there are tons of casual fans in funny hats who have drunk too many Mint Juleps. And the betting lines are long. They have to give them enough time to bet.

Looks like they adjusted it at some point. I guess somebody told them about the Derby this morning.

i really like the time between races, it gives you a chance to clear out your head and make wiser choices.

Or, you could be like me...and attempt to handicap every race being run at every track on the day...

I mowed the lawn between races. Got some rare sunshine.
Betting from home was a lot better than the time I went to Caliente when it reopened on Cannonade's Derby day 1974. ~10,000 customers showed up but there were only about 5 clerks and 'one' bartender. We wound up at the foreign book in downtown TJ.

If you were at any racetrack it was just enough time. The lines were ridiculous especially with all the novice bettors not prepared when they got to the window.

I have not been to CDX on derby day in quite a few years, but this was the first oaks day that I missed in over 20. I can tell you with 100% certainty, that they need all of that time to get bets in on track. You might stand in line for the entire 45 mins and still not get a bet down.

Yes I have to agree we needed the time even off track. Watched the race with my buddies Jeff and Patsy at Twin River Casino in Lincoln Rhode Island. Huge plant, packed house. At first we mocked the time between races but by the time we made our bets for friends, made our own wagers, and grabbed a beer, there was hardly any time left before post time. Kinda wished i got shut out

Some windows need a 45 second 'shot clock' you got 45 seconds to bet, if you don't walk away from the window IMMEDIATELY a large bouncer grabs u, ruffs u up and kicks you out of the track where police are waiting to cuff you for trespassing, you're brought to the station, fingerprinted and booked so yeah, it's a great idea to get out of the way at 45.
You can always go to the back of the line if you don't get all your bets in!
