if i learned anything after yesterday's race, i will never play one of these back-to-back days' daily double. i played a 1-1 double and not only did i get belted down in price after Friday's race started, but come Saturday i really didn't like the horse i had to complete the double. i was watching the riders in the prior races try to get off the rail. i knew i was dead and deserved what i got. i hurdd ii have a crazy ego to brag that i was so good that i cold punched both the Oaks and the Derby. not only that, but the parlay would have paid better than the double in a 20-horse field.
when i looked at Erik Reeds horse on Thursday, i thought it was a joke and skipped through it without paying attention to it. the way the track was playing on Saturday, anything could and did win the Derby.
How can one not be happy for the connections and their storybook moment. I lost plenty on the race myself, but if your gonna get beat, this is the way, just like Mine That Bird.
