I can understand the need to negotiate with Kim Jong Un
but your man T takes it a step further
he tells the world he really likes the guy - they exchange love letters
Kim Jong Un: a brutal dictator who had his own brother killed
a man who has tortured, killed and imprisoned thousands of NK's own citizens
Kim is the only fat boy in the whole country. most of the rest of the country is starving

The Russians and the Chinese just had a strategic cooperation summit. Shortly thereafter Kim went to meet Putin and Xi came to North Korea.
North Korea has done jack all to get back in the fold and sanctions are MASSIVELY lighter than they were at Singapore.
If that's "peace" I'll take a hard pass at it.
This is the Trump MO though now and Iran has showed that too. Ramp up pressure, talk with bellicosity, then say you want to talk, have splashy summit, accomplish nothing, say you won.

North Korea is a bad actor, and has done tons of things that are terrible to his people.
Sometimes when you are trying to move peace forward you have to try to negotiate and move forward.
The ole USA and GB got in bed with Stalin to try and move things forward, and he was not a good guy.

Getting in bed with Stalin to defeat Nazism is a far cry from coddling a dictator while achieving nothing in return.
The only thing that has changed is North Korea ksnt under the same economic pressure. Trump is "in love" with Kim and wants to make North Korea great again.

This is opinion. Though I tend to agree. Trump is trying at least, not leading from the back which was popular and not effective with the last admin.

I don't think that's it. I think he is going all out to coddle a child. Trump has a goal. He wants to settle this NKorea thing forever.
If that means treating this guy like a king/savior whatever.....it's worth it.
But, I also think Trump knows that if he has to hammer this guy in the future, he can then go back and say he tried everything before having to move to a war footing.
